An outstanding post. This confirms my belief in this airline and all who might be employed to crew for them.

An interesting posting !

I have been trying for the last week or so to speak to someone and find out where to apply to, who to ring etc etc but Air Omega have not replied to E mails and I even tried ringing the phone number in Germany without success.

Perhaps Lovegerd, you could enlighten us as to where you applied to ?....... If you dont wish to publish it on the the list, maybe a private message to me ??

Starting in January, but keeping routes secret to ward off the competition.
Mmmmh. So how do perspective passengers get to know of destinations to fill there planes in such a short period?????

Very sceptical, but wish them all the best.I think they`ll need it!!!!!!!!

Tuesday 2/12 (Aberdeen) Press & Journal carried a piece on Air Omega - starting Jan 5th 2004 4x daily (weekdays?) Aberdeen - Stansted with 130 seat B737's, offering First, Business and Economy classes, with fares "starting" at "£70 one-way" (+ Taxes?).

So thats 520 seats each way each day at fares well above what you can get with Easyjet (and BA for that matter!) - I would love it to succeed but sorry, I cannot see this working. Shades of ALEX...... for those who remember

One possible fallout would be that Ryanair finally get around to doing the route - if they do then sadly, Omega haven't got a hope.

Surely the length of time taken will soon prompt pax to look elsewhere. Sadly, to boot many pax will not be enamoured with flying in such a small a/c. Has any other outfit looked at the B717 ?

I spoke to someone at Air Omega at Prestwick Airport. The routes to East Midlands and Teeside have been dropped and the only route they have at present is Aberdeen to Stansted. Air Omega also have a website although there isn't much on it at present. www.flyao.co.uk

Staff at the Air Omega call centre ( 08000 199950 ) say that the Prestwick - East Midland and Teeside routes are definately going ahead and that tickets should be on sale by next week. Apparently the aircraft aren't ready yet. I wish Air Omega would make up their mind! Fares start at £80 one way and £120 return.

Great news, just a pity they dont base there two EMB120 aircraft at Prestwick,we could have a further two routes,Belfast and Birmingham perhaps.
But who cares, lets just hope it is a success and I wish them all the best.

Air Omega stopped?

Just heard a rumor from a German friend, that Air Omega has lost its AOC and that this might affect Air Omega UK.

Heard similar things ChiefT, from sources (airports) over here...dubious launch, route and fleet plans at best.

If they get going (IF) ABZ-STN seems about their 'best' idea, but as a non-lo co, how long before Ryanair come on and carve 'em up?

Yes, it seems that they want to start a 3 class service! Strange in an environment, where all airlines are trying to beat the LoCo's.

The rumour I heard is that Titan will be supplying the aircraft on a damp lease, rather like Astreaus do for Iceland Express, hence Air Omega in Germany possibly loosing its AOC would be off no effect at the aircraft will operate on Titans AOC.

Also heard a strong rumour that Air Omega signed a contract with a handling agent at Stansted sometime during the last week, so the commencement of operations cannot be far away.

Good luck to all concerned, more start ups means more chance of a job for people like me when I get my license finished in the next few months.

................... looks like a long wait............

No announcements, no further speculation, no nothing ........ and no Air Omega Brasilia's in Prestwick for ages.......

I sent an e mail to them asking about job opportunities......I never even had the common courtesy of a reply.......

Can you not try some of the phone numbers earlier in the topic Ian?
If thats not successful look out in the Ayrshire Post, there usually seems to be a bit about jobs for Omega in there.
