BA 777-300's
Can anyone shed some light on the rumour that BA are planning to introduce the B777-300 into their fleet??
Would these be additional aircraft or are they going to replace the B747-400 or B777-200's?

If we take the 777-300 (and thats a big if) they would initially replace some 747-400's but there is the possibility that more could be introduced at a later stage to increase overall capacity.
My personal opinion is that this rumour is based mainly on wishful thinking - mine!

Rod has said consistently that he'd like around ten less B744s, before he looks at boosting the 777 fleet. He's long wanted to adjust the long haul fleet mix in favour of the 777.
Pre-911 the Roller 773 looked a possibility at a high gross weight, with a requirement for 10-12 aircraft. Now that CX is looking for 747 lift, perhaps the opening is there for BA to move some 744s and go for more 777s.
The new timing probably works back into GE's favour, with the -300ER ready and waiting, offering similar range to the 744.

The plan is for a plane swap between BA and CX - CX taking about 12 of BA's 744s and BA taking about the same number of CX's 773s. For one, I hope to see BA operating this type!
With the exception of the A330-200/-300, the 777-200/-300 offers the ultimate comfort in the sky, in my eyes.
