Hi,

Would the route be successful? Maybe the A319 would be a possible aircraft to operate the flight.

I have no doubt this would be a successful route, however I would think more a route for the EMB-145.

The amount of people who travel from LPL to MAN to fly on one of the 30-odd flights per day to London must be a fair few!

Hope it comes off...

It has been reported in the Liverpool Daily Post this week, that LJLA have been in talks with a number of airlines exploring the possibility of London flights, Iwould guess at Jetmagic into City or Easyjet into Gatwick, can't see Bmi hav,in a bash at it.

Little Blue, yes your right it has been tried before back in the 90,s /80,s when the airport was on its knees, but things are on the up in the this neck of the woods , and Iam sure that a great City the size of LIVERPOOL can now support this route.

VLM have said they will consider operating a Liverpool - London City route as well.

They did a good few years ago and, if memory serves, the service went onto Antwerp.

Heard the same rumour elsewhere and it was also rumoured that BMI wanted LPL to purpose build a dedicated airbridge and lounge for any BMI, LPL-Heathrow service.

...and someone please tell me where on earth they're going to conjure up some LHR slots to be able to operate this?

I suspect BD have said to LPL something more upon the lines of.."...IF we get some sexy ringfenced slots at LHR at some stage in the future and IF you do us a stonking great deal on airport fees together with a suave exec lounge and a shiny new airbridge THEN we'll talk more seriously about operating LPL-LHR..."

NB To all the guys in the North-west who've been hankering after a reinstatement of the L'pool-Heathrow route for years; please don't misunderstand me: I'd love to be proved wrong on this: I, for one, would be amongst the first in the queue to buy tickets on the service if it ever did come back

According to my source BA are to be asked to relenquish slots at LHR, now that they and Swiss are to code-share on the Geneva route.

Perhaps you Brits are starting to ask why foreign (European) passengers have a greater access to your biggest airport than those of you living in provincial cities.

Because the BAA (that well known car park & retail outlet operator......airports?) is more interested in high spending foreign tourists than UK pax who have to like (or lump) the overcrowded roads & rail networks to get anywhere.

Anyway I like Bishkek, apart from the chance of being a fatality on the roads of about 75%!!
