Ryanair baggage allowance

Wondered what all the fuss was about; came back on a Ryanair flight into Stansted last night at about 23:30ish only to be held at Okham for 15 odd mins and then screeched to a halt (as in forced against your seat belt a la running out of the hard stuff now) to make way for three others backed up behind us with four more in sight by the time we turned off the taxiway. They don't land jets long, do they?
Anyway, packed airport, waited a good 40 mins for the baggage to come through, felt like the whole world and its wife were coming back into the UK.
By the way, if you're thinking of ever using Ryanair as PAX, forget it; charged me for being 1 kilo - that's one kilo - overweight, the tight sods. No wonder they're making money...

Was 3 kilos over, took 2 out and redistributed but there was nowhere for that last 1 to go; except of course on my back as a couple of extra layers of clothing, but I didn't think of that at the time....

i've got a tip for you laywerboy,why dont you stop slagging off Ryanair, and go fly EZY? Hmm? if you had any idea, you'd know that at that time of night, most, if not all planes based at STN are coming back, and we are pushed to take the first "fast" exit to clear the runway, and not "running out of the hard stuff" as you put it? Obviously you don't...
As for you luggage, why don't you read the terms on the booking form? Judging by your name i'm sure you were good at that?

Hit a nerve, have I? Wouldn't have called this a slagging off myself.
1. Didn't think I'd get away with the 'land long' jibe, but do relax old chap - wasn't a dig at Ryanair at all. Expedited a turn off the active and understandably so. My point was that it was busy enough to require the fast exit, not that your colleague did anything wrong.
2. Quite right, I have read the Ryanair terms quite closely, thank you, as I have various other carriers. Most carriers will tell you that anything over your limit will attract a fee per extra kilo but few - unless you're at the back of the queue - will insist on you paying it, certainly not for being so marginally over. More to the point, however, few carriers allow you such a mediocre allowance in the first place: 15 kilos per passenger? I was travelling with my wife. We were allowed 30 kilos, we weighed in at 31.

Lawyerboy - I do not use FR if at all possible.
I have no argument with their pricing strategy and lowering the limit to 15ks and charging the diff is very good and smart. However, I prefer a charging scheme that has less hidden extras. I agree that FR pricing structure does not hide anything - but it can be argued that the structure sets out to trip the unwary. As always caveat emptor.
What it points out to me is that FR are not placing the passenger at the center of the equation, balancing costs and profit to each side. The company that even pretends that it is looking after me, will get my attention.
