Balless Mouse!

Went and bought myself a new mouse today - for the 'puter that is.

Guess what? IT'S BALLESS (spelling?).:D

Called Optic KeyMouse or something and has a little red light. No need for a mousepad either now. Now, who says we don't get technology in Africa? :}

Virgin wants Concorde, for £1

London - Virgin Atlantic founder Richard Branson said on Thursday his airline was interested in buying British Airways' doomed Concorde fleet, but would offer just £1 (€1.5, $1.6).

Branson, the king of publicity stunts, said in a statement he would be asking BA for the full operation figures for its fleet of seven Concorde.

"Since the British Airways' announcement this morning we have been flooded with calls from the public, including BA staff, asking us to see if we can keep Concorde flying," said Branson.

"When the Conservative government gave British Airways Concorde for £1 they said that if another British company ever wanted to operate it they could.

"If having examined the figures Virgin Atlantic, with its lower cost base, believes it can make a success of it we will be asking British Airways to give us the planes for the same price that they were given them for (£1) together with the slots and other facilities that they use.

"This might come to nothing but I believe that every effort should be made to keep Concorde flying as it is such an important symbol of British innovation," he added.

Air France and British Airways said on Thursday Concorde would stop flying by the end of October at the latest after more than quarter of a century as a transatlantic shuttle for the rich and privileged.

The cost of developing the supersonic passenger jet were borne by the British and French governments and only BA and Air France - at the time both state-run - opted to buy the hugely expensive aircraft.

BA indicated that it wanted to see its Concordes put on display to the public rather than going to rival carriers.

THE CAMPFIRE IS WORKING !

Morning 4HP,

I hope you are well.

Personnaly I think THE CAMPFIRE works .. but as it is a sticky I (maybe all) do not see if there is a new post on it ?

My suggestion.

Please make a sub - thread under Africa Aviation (like the Aussies did) and I am sure we will get much better response as it will be much better organised and not everything under one thread !

If it does not work - it doesn't and I can not see why not ... ?

Cheers and have a lekker week- end !

Gunns

Another suggestion..

How about we get the Neil Robertson sticky posting burned? It's in bad taste and it leaves a bad taste!

B Sousa 12th Apr 2003 23:31

126.9
I asked Danny about that on email. It appears that he has really pissed Danny off by being on PPrune and further he was at some stage from S Africa.
I agree its past time for that thread to go, but its not my website and I certainly have little or no influence.

The Claw 13th Apr 2003 15:35

Thank you Danny and 4 HP for removing the sticky! It certainly removes that "bitterness" from the African Forum.:O :O

4HolerPoler 13th Apr 2003 17:55

Your wish is my command. Actually wasn't me who pushed the button.

This thread seems to be working well; I'm working on making it a seperate forum under the African label. But these things take time; it takes eleven forms, in triplicate that need to be countersigned by at least three moderators and then two supermods to initiate the process. The application then needs to be gazetted on the Moderator's Forum. Then we have to leave the application in a holding tank for a month during which time anyone who has any objection to the process or feels that the inclusion of such a forum will cause legal hassles or infringe the rights of minority groups or previously disadvantaged peoples has the right to raise their concern. If this is the case (59% of all previous applications have in some way been held up or terminated in this fashion) a caucus of not less than seven supermods and five mods, chaired by Danny or the Towers will debate the issue and vote on it's continued process. These things obviously cost money and the standard fee for a hearing of this nature is $ 500 which I shall have to generate by selling more of my wife's disgusting fudge. Or by generous donation of eager supplicants, quivering in anticipation....................see how easy it is to be a bureaucrat?

Should be done soon.

Regards

4HP

Jetdriver 13th Apr 2003 20:21

You are welcome !

Grizzly Bare 13th Apr 2003 20:40

Robertson

But what's happening to Robertson court case?

Jetdriver 13th Apr 2003 20:48

Grizzly !

that cannot be discussed on this forum or on any of the forums at this time.

I had concluded from reading the requests and comments that Dannys "sticky" had been overlooked and left on this forum whilst being removed from the other forums. I am now wondering if I was wrong.

...and after further consideration I believe that removing the "sticky" notice which then resulted in the post inviting further discussion, proves its continuing validity. So it will remain here until such time as danny wishes to remove it himself.

Gunship 13th Apr 2003 21:38

So ...

... while it is so important why do we not discuss it .. :E

I mean ... I am talking about the Iraqi war now .. what where YOU thinkin about mate ... :p

BAKELA 14th Apr 2003 17:43

Yippeeeee!!!!

Many thanks 4HP and Jetdriver for considering the wishes of the souls on the African forum. :D

Somewhere on this forum is a thread on advise for a hawker job. Did not have the heart to post my first thoughts on reading the heading of that thread on the same thread, so here it is at The Campfire.

On reading "hawker job" I immediately thought, not in your life in SA chum, everywhere I go it says "NO HAWKERS ALLOWED" ;)

Gunship 15th Apr 2003 08:50

BAKELA .. I seem to remember those signs .. here it is " ...no pissen na de wall .." :}

Thanks for that reply. It's his site and he can do with it as he pleases. I simply make the point that a posting such as that, says as much about the Poster as it does about the Postee! :yuk:

PPRuNe Towers 21st Apr 2003 20:30

Sorry for the delay but I've gone wild eyed and radical - ignored the procedures driving your mods demented and created your sub-forum.

You can now trigger your own threads rather than just adding to this one - normal house rules. Hope you thoroughly enjoy having your own place.

Oh, and finally. For legal reasons the Guv sticky stays on the main forum as he faces very serious charges and we at the Towers are potentially needed as witnesses.

Regards to all,
Rob Lloyd
