Air Mauritius Abinitio - 2013

Hi.
Did anyone of you apply to Air Mauritius recently for the cadet programme?

Oldaircrew 16th Oct 2013 07:27

I applied 4 months ago. 12 000 hrs total, 5000 A320(1500 PiC) and 2500 A330/340. Haven't heard a thing.

bannythedonkey 17th Oct 2013 21:27

This whole Mauritian Pilot Programme is a BIG joke. Once again they are trying to fool people around.

MK34 18th Oct 2013 01:04

Air Mauritius 2013...

Just read the older posts on this crappy run airline.
1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2015 on the horizon....still the same crap and bu.sh.t. Same arrogant, inconsiderate peoples running this little crappy outfit. Be WARNED as they like to say over there!!!!

Ghost_Rider737 19th Oct 2013 19:29

(No airline would hire a 250hr CPL to fly their multi-million aircraft! )(A fulsome wishful quote from a previous poster.)

Isn't the reason that third world airlines do precisely that, one reason for the creation and existence of Airbus Industries? Aircraft designed to fly by law, by wire and by computer. Machines that fly with anything other than intelligent human input?

Laddie, you're totally out of touch with the real world!! Many, many airlines, good, reliable and well established airlines, do so and have done so for decades.

Air Mauritius

I do not know much about Air Mauritius but i agree with your views Pilot Breezy. I recall when i completed my training in the US and i was looking for instructing work, some of the flight schools told me that they only hire their locals.

It didn't bother me because it's something i totally understand as its the norm in my adoptive country and some of the other first world countries. Infact countries like Nz and Oz were they have strong labor unions and pilot associations, the carriers over their have to justify to the government and the union why they have to hire a foreigner over a local.

It's only in African where most carriers tend to quickly want to hire foreigners over their locals. Point example a carrier which neighbors Mauritius they wanted to hire foreign Captains beginning of this year but the Pilot local union took the carrier to court.

Daftpunk2008 26th Oct 2013 13:09

For me Air Mauritius should hire and train fresh 250 hrs CPL holders as FO on their A320s fleet too like Air France do. And may be they could hire them on A330/40 as Second Officer like Cathay Pacific..This will give more opportunity to young mauritians pilots.

Hobo 26th Oct 2013 14:22

Please enlighten me. Which Airline's hire fresh 250hrs CPL holder straight to become their FO's on their jets? I would like to know of them because i have alot of colleagues who are 250hrs CPL holders looking for work desperately!

British Airways, Ryanair, Easyjet.....

Trossie 27th Oct 2013 06:22

Hobo, thank you; and many, many more airlines!

And cavorting... with proper selection and training, those 250 hour pilots can even fly Boeings!

cavortingcheetah 27th Oct 2013 10:21

There's nothing inherently wrong with a 250 hour greenhorn trying to fly anything except perhaps a tail dragger. The less attractive scenario however is when that extremely inexperienced FO is rostered with a 1200 hour/1500 total hour or 50 hour on type Captain. That does happen and it does lead to theatrical scenes in the cockpit which would be best played out in the comedy section of the theatre although all too often it's the sad mask of tragedy which attends such a coupling of inexperience and lack of ability.

cavortingcheetah 27th Oct 2013 13:30

A timely reminder and so to bed.

cavorting... surely it has been a universally known truth that 17-year-olds with only 25 hours have been able to competently handle great radial-engined 'beastie' tail-draggers? My good man, you must have encountered some good training standards somewhere?!!

And ...Twotter, pray, what was the sport, was it cricket? A gentleman name Charles Fortune (remember him?) told me once that cricket was the oldest sport in the world and that this ditty proves it: "Father has a bat and ball, Mother has a wicket, Every night they go to bed, And play a game of Cricket"!!

Dreadfully sorry Grim_Reaper old chap, this has crept a tad, hasn't it?!!

Solid Rust Twotter 28th Oct 2013 12:13

Master Pepys, in fact....:}

E-mail

Hi, I received an e-mail yesterday from someone working for LH I think. He sent me a prep test for Air Mauritius Pilot program stage 1. He also said that we will receive a letter shortly from Air Mauritius.

dhamby 7th Nov 2013 06:20

No answer recievied for me :(

engineer29 10th Nov 2013 11:13

hello @ Grim reaper and Daftpunk,
Are we talking about the latest cadet program ? How were you contacted? I received nothing upto now.
Thanks.;)

Daftpunk2008 11th Nov 2013 10:29

air mauritius

Hi,

I received a mail which inform me that the stage 1 is scheduled on the 25th November.

Muzammil93 11th Nov 2013 13:03

Air Mauritius Cadet Pilot

We applied for Abinitio- no previous flying experience. We got a first mail along with some software for practice for the upcoming tests on 4 Nov. Then some of us got their date for their test from Air Mauritius. I haven't got any mail from Air Mauritius yet regarding the date of my test. That's the story so far. What about you? :ugh:

Daftpunk2008 11th Nov 2013 13:03

mk

I applied for the ab-initio program

vtec 12th Nov 2013 05:40

cadet assessment

Got a mail yesterday from DLR , the selection will take place from the 18 to the 29 Nov.(CBT on one day and group assessment on the next). Muzzamil, you should have received an e-mail from air mauritius by now if you got the DLR mail on the 4th.

vtec 12th Nov 2013 07:09

yeah but air mauritius mail did said the interview was to be advised.(Thought those who were to be successful in the CBT and the Group Assmnt would be interviewed.) Don't know if its a communication problem between the DLR and MK. Hope we are not interviewed on the same day as the group assessment.
Grim , if you don't mind sharing what would be your dresscode ??? with the heat, I was planning up to a tie. No suit. ;)

Muzammil93 12th Nov 2013 07:14

Air Mauritius Cadet Pilot

I think you misunderstood the mail guys. It says day one will be computerised tests and day two will Group assessment. The interview will come afterwards, they will inform you if you passed the first two stages. If so, you will be invited to attend the interview in Germany in beginning of December. *Interview will not be carried out in Mauritius*

vtec 12th Nov 2013 07:23

DLR mail did said those passing the three stages would go to Germany. No interview was inferred in Germany. And even though i have doubts, since we would be assessed for a basic simulator tests which any computer can do and that too would be most probably the MIC test.

vtec 12th Nov 2013 07:33

Still I'm skeptic, Basic flight simulator in Germany. But, it would be nice traveling for free. ;)

vtec 12th Nov 2013 07:38

The dlr mail did said the we would be tested on only the cbt we have recieved. MIC, i didn't receive it. did anyone of you?

Aladin 12th Nov 2013 08:44

All the best guys...

But Keep in mind that you will be a bunch of probably 300 people for the first assessment, since no real prerequisite is required for the ab-inition program.

I remembered in 2003 & 2005 there were around 300 in first stage and approximately 30 in the next one. So you better be prepared, you guys will suffer!! :E

Once again, Good Luck!

vtec 12th Nov 2013 08:56

Yeah, 5 pair of days, and if there are morning and afternoon sessions. A ton of guys should be expected.

Lol thanks:ok:

bannythedonkey 12th Nov 2013 17:55

I wonder if a chnage in DFO will resolve all these pilot recruitment issues? Isn't that since he took office that all pilot issues both to local an expat pilots have started? Those who know MK for long would know it better.
Think again. Find the root of the problem.

Any1 applied to the MPProgramme and got a reply yet? Looks like the wannabe cadets are being looked at first this time around?

Air Mauritius Abinitio recruitment 2013 - selected and non selected candidates

Good evening everybody. I would really like if you guys would come together to share ideas about the current selection exercise and progress. Everyone who applied could share us their educational background and experience that mk liked in each respective cvs applying to both selected and non selected so that we can get an idea what to better themselves on for a future recruitment.
Thanks and good luck everyone.;)

engineer29 14th Nov 2013 19:46

Hello airlinedream
That is a good idea. I would like to bring to the attention of all wannabe's that something is smelling fishy with this selection exercise:confused:. There are many suitably qualified people ( technical degree holders / commercial aviation grads) out there who have not (yet?) received any invitation for the selection process...:ugh:
Are there other wannabees like me, who think that they should have received their invitation for the DLR but who have not received anything upto now??:ooh:

Aladin 15th Nov 2013 05:12

Applied for both 2003 and 2005 selections. Made it to the final interview each time. But like many wasn't hired due to some obscure reasons.

I've seen guys (and gals) being successful in the selection, sent to TO's but couldnt eventually trained as a pilot due to many reasons, like medical issues (yeah some had some chronic health probs which MK couldnt spot during their medicals in Mauritius) and others, issues with multitasking and vertigo. I've seen interviews being postponed as the son of a now former PS missed his plane. And of course the guy was selected. I'm sure the guy is a very good pilot but still there are many others who have the same potential but are not being given their chance.

I eventually financed my own training and managed to complete it successfully coz it was my dream to fly. MK did advertise for CPL holders in 2010, i applied but the whole selection process was such a mess (as usual) that ICAC was called to investigate....the rest is history.

And of course i can no longer apply as there is an age limit for CPL holders

For all you guys who are not aware, MK is under the control of the dark side of the force.

Good Luck! :ok:
