The best flying job in Africa!!

I was wondering, what do you guys think is the top flying position in Africa.

If you could have one flying job, which one would it be?

gchangflyer 22nd Feb 2011 20:44

Definitely NOT the job I have now! No, seriously, I reckon, IMHO, SAA A340 Captain.

stevop21 22nd Feb 2011 21:33

Yes I would agree SAA A340 captain, although in terms of enjoyment perhaps it may be bush flying!

Whenwe 23rd Feb 2011 05:15

Me, I just want to fly the Herc (C130 / L100-30 / 382G) again.

Solid Rust Twotter 23rd Feb 2011 05:23

Where I am now.:ok:

I.R.PIRATE 23rd Feb 2011 06:20

A340 captain....glad there is so much ambition around. But I asked for opinions, and must take what I get.

So SRT, are you gonna tell us more?

Whenwe 23rd Feb 2011 06:53

If I can redo it again, then in terms of avaition today, the guy that sits in the left hand seat of a B777-300ER is where I want to be. This is not meant to be Boeing against Airbus.

Solid Rust Twotter 23rd Feb 2011 07:05

If I told you, I'd have to kill you and feed you to the space goats Mr Pirate...:}

The voices they put in my head told me to say that.

lilflyboy262 23rd Feb 2011 13:57

Flying the twotter in the maldives looks like a pretty good job to me.

The Ancient Geek 23rd Feb 2011 14:40

The Maldives are nowhere near Africa.
Driving a Twotter and a C208 in the Mara was a great job.

doubleu-anker 24th Feb 2011 03:48

A job, where you are home every night, would be a good start.

Ndicho Moja 24th Feb 2011 04:54

Flying Barons and 404s with Air Kenya. Single pilot IFR and bush flying, making it all work with a minimum of fuss and BS, but that was a long time ago.

4runner 24th Feb 2011 05:19

The one that gets you out of Afrika the most after the honeymoon with this continent is over.

Doodlebug 24th Feb 2011 09:50

A friend of mine flies a Lear 31a, a chopper (think it's a 407 but I'm not sure) AND a Grand Van for the same outfit, in Namibia!

They treat him well, they don't fly too much and he's home most nights, living in paradise. Sod the 340s and 777s, he probably makes more than them and he definately has more fun.

gb346 24th Feb 2011 11:20

The novelty of the toy we fly wears off after 6 months - its then about quality of the flying and the quality of life.

Most fun - Fire Fighting in a Huey
Best Paid - A340 Capt
Best lifestyle - Anything where you can have a life outside of flying

Best job in Africa - haven't found it yet.

four engine jock 24th Feb 2011 11:40

The best was Flying a B707-365C during the 80's and 90's. Since then all down hill.

Ghost_Rider737 25th Feb 2011 05:34

most fun and best paid for your job...SAA A340 P3 :O
