Hi!

I'm pretty sure they are based in Dar-es-Salaam. They have a small number of small planes, judging from the ramp in Dar. I think the biggest was a caravan (or Chieftan, depending on how you count biggest). They had king airs and SE planes, also. Saw one of their king airs in Mwanza, Tanzania last week.

They used to maintain my planes when I was there, operated C 406 and C 310 at the time (2001).

Tanzanair are a charter company based in Dar, they have their own Terminal buliding also.

Fleet consists of 1x 206, 2x 208B, 2x 406 and 2x BE200

BE20 Captain salary

Hi AviatorJack,

any idea what the salary for a captain position on a BE20 would roughly be? And what the living costs in Dar are, assuming that no housing is provided? Can one afford to bring a family to live on that salary?
Cheers,

Hi!

It is somewhat lower than typical costs in America, and lots lower than US big city costs.

If U have kids, you would have to put them in a private American/Intntl school (I'm sure there is at least one), which could be expensive.

PS-Just in Dar today. Saw 3 Russian Migs out flying. Quite interesting!

Stay Away fro Tanzanair. They don't like to legally "Check out" their pilots. CP is also a Moron. Couple good okes working there but going nowhere without a legal ticket in their little blue book.

Oi !

Seems to be quite an outfit...!!!

Checking-out pilots "illegally"!!!:ugh:

Who the hell is this moron? Seems to be quite a character...

Is he anyone I know?

AviatorJack 6th Oct 2009 11:19

Sorry mate I have no idea. Best thing to do is just contact and ask. Just google them and you should find an email address..........

Take care.

scaramuzzo 15th Oct 2009 13:07

Quite interesting, indeed...

The moron CP.... actually I have been told is a nice guy... an excellent instructor whose speciallity is collecting all rejected pilots and turning them into "Super Pilots"

I dont understand this... or may be one of us is nursing a grudge against the CP?:ugh:

Phobos2 17th Oct 2009 06:41

brazzapilot 23rd Oct 2009 16:23

tarzanair

yes this is a good co to work for, serious organisation, i may not like the owners, but i admire the people that work there....how poorly they are paid yet they do great work!
apply in person or thru email, but its best if you walked there and seen how they behaved, if they want you they will beg you and find you! if you are not wanted there -you will notice it in their attitude, that is typical of Greeks anyways!!:ugh:

scaramuzzo 30th Oct 2009 08:44

Thanks Brazzapilot for your neutral attitude..

By the way, just crossed my path in a night club... Not sure..

406pilot is one of the moron cp products? unbelievable...

Hey Scara

Planning to join Tanzanair? Go for it, man!

Questioning, asking... just wastage of time. Just go in, if you like it stick around, if you dont, get out fast....

All the best.

rubanisafi 26th Nov 2009 18:23

So are the B1900D's being operated by Tanzanair or what?

flex50 1st Jan 2010 05:01

rubani safi

the beeches 1900Ds will be operated by the new operator SAFARI PLUS. any one with more details about this new operator?

AviatorJack 11th Jan 2010 09:52

Sorry for the late reply. People usually start on the $3000 mark for C208's around this region and if you don't have King Air or 406 time expect to start on the Van. The guys there get paid well, good benefits too but you do usually wait a while until you are released.

Again, the best thing to do is to be here and see them in person. Sending emails doesn't usually help.

The 1900's are under Tanzanair's AOC me'sa thinks but owned by the Kempinski Hotels group to shuttle people upto their new lodge in the Serengeti. The owners do the hiring.

Hope that helps!

flex50 11th Jan 2010 18:10

good, any contacts for safari plus BOSSES? where to find them?
