Hi!

I'm pretty sure they are based in Dar-es-Salaam. They have a small number of small planes, judging from the ramp in Dar. I think the biggest was a caravan (or Chieftan, depending on how you count biggest). They had king airs and SE planes, also. Saw one of their king airs in Mwanza, Tanzania last week.

They used to maintain my planes when I was there, operated C 406 and C 310 at the time (2001).

BE20 Captain salary

Hi AviatorJack,

any idea what the salary for a captain position on a BE20 would roughly be? And what the living costs in Dar are, assuming that no housing is provided? Can one afford to bring a family to live on that salary?
Cheers,

Hi!

It is somewhat lower than typical costs in America, and lots lower than US big city costs.

If U have kids, you would have to put them in a private American/Intntl school (I'm sure there is at least one), which could be expensive.

PS-Just in Dar today. Saw 3 Russian Migs out flying. Quite interesting!

Stay Away fro Tanzanair. They don't like to legally "Check out" their pilots. CP is also a Moron. Couple good okes working there but going nowhere without a legal ticket in their little blue book.

Oi !

Quite interesting, indeed...

The moron CP.... actually I have been told is a nice guy... an excellent instructor whose speciallity is collecting all rejected pilots and turning them into "Super Pilots"

I dont understand this... or may be one of us is nursing a grudge against the CP?

Lightbulb tarzanair

yes this is a good co to work for, serious organisation, i may not like the owners, but i admire the people that work there....how poorly they are paid yet they do great work!
apply in person or thru email, but its best if you walked there and seen how they behaved, if they want you they will beg you and find you! if you are not wanted there -you will notice it in their attitude, that is typical of Greeks anyways!!

Hey Scara

Planning to join Tanzanair? Go for it, man!

Questioning, asking... just wastage of time. Just go in, if you like it stick around, if you dont, get out fast....

All the best.

Sorry for the late reply. People usually start on the $3000 mark for C208's around this region and if you don't have King Air or 406 time expect to start on the Van. The guys there get paid well, good benefits too but you do usually wait a while until you are released.

Again, the best thing to do is to be here and see them in person. Sending emails doesn't usually help.

The 1900's are under Tanzanair's AOC me'sa thinks but owned by the Kempinski Hotels group to shuttle people upto their new lodge in the Serengeti. The owners do the hiring.

Hope that helps!
