Sorry to hear you still have a splinter under your finger nail.........Keep up the Good Work. G Man needs the money.......Doubt if hes sharing much in comparison to what hes making.....But then again, someone has to be at the bottom of the ladder...

Frelonius Maximus 17th Feb 2006 10:18

Splinter?

Yo Bert, sorry bru, the splinter thing was lost on me. I'll leave such subtleties up to those who use them with such regularity... could you draw me a picture perhaps? Are you sure youre not mixing it up with a scratch I have on my hand?

B Sousa 17th Feb 2006 14:09

No big surprise there........
How is OD Airlines, Weekend coming up and many flights ahead. Sounds like nothing but money pouring in......
Since you guys have "Carter Blanche" to fly, I see no reason for you not to land at the Top of the Tram on the Table. Its faster than a tram ride, much cheaper and who is going to tell you no.....check that....Many will tell you no, but who is going to do anything about it......Talk about making money.

118.9 17th Feb 2006 14:34

 Sousa you wont give it a rest will you? Are these guys hurting you? It sounds too much like protectionism to me.

The rule of law will prevail in the end and someone will lose, someone will win. But instead of deriding the Huey and constantly complaining, why don't you guys compete. I reiterate; if someone wants an extreme (Vietnam) experience they are not going to be attracted to pretty 206s and ECs.

So buy a Huey and operate it according to the book, you too would make more money.

B Sousa 17th Feb 2006 15:35

118.9
You got it....... No rest for the wicked.
If they would do as you suggested, then they would not be flying today.......
You obviously havent been watching this since the get go. Better change to 121.5
When the "Rule of Law" is applied and enforced, this thread will go away......

For some reason you sound as if you think I am in the Business. Sorry, but just a Pilot. Nothing against extreme Vietnam experiences, and there is no competition, fortunately.
The thread is based solely on Method of Operation within guidelines set down by the CAA/Manufacturer etc. Best you go back through this and get an idea of the operation before you make comments.
If your really a 737 driver and operate as Helibase does, your license would have/should have been pulled some time ago...

B Sousa 6th Mar 2006 16:26

With all the latest one wonders how many OD Aircraft are now gracing the skies of CPT.
LH, KK?? whats the latest. Anyone doing formation thrill rides over downtown??
You guys are too quiet..........

B Sousa 29th Apr 2006 13:41

Nothing in over a month..
Must be some action in the cape???

The Huey in Cape Town

Goodbye Mr Chips
I see that the Huey Club appears to be no longer a subject, or no-one cares any more, despite the fact that they remain in the news, and remain unlawful! They have no books to speak of and apparently not even a bank account, (at least that’s what he’s telling the Court)
In reply to some insults I received from CaneRat back in September 2004, I took my appeal process to Bloemfontein, and was granted leave to appeal, and a panel of 3 judges overturned the decisions of that certain Judge (who is constantly in the news under dubious circumstances lately) and later Bloemfontein refused that man Van’s application to overturn my appeal. So many appeals – but my friend, you are no longer such an appealing person! The wheel turns slowly - but it turns!
Well, Supervan, we saw your Removal Van,
making everyone Super Happy, so all I have to say is
“Goodbye, you’ve had your chips”.
Looks like your years of flying paying passengers using private pilots out of an Industrial Area, over the N1 from Culemborg are also finally coming to an end, according to Saturday’s Argus; hopefully before you have any serious crashes!
Quite Ernestly: Have a good day raking in your ill-gotten gains, which you obtain to the detriment of the legitimate Helicopter Operators!

B Sousa 29th May 2006 12:59

Are you saying that the Huey and Frelon are NOT flying daily??
Dont count them out just yet. All the Rats on the Sinking Ship will no doubt find employment in the general vicinity...... So the Stigma should carry to other employers...
And the principals in this mess are still breathing air, so something will pop up somewhere if not in the Cape.

118.9 30th May 2006 12:08

Mac, not sure everyone is up to date, I'm not for sure (not keen to go raking back years on the thread).

Has the landowner evicted the gang from Culembourg, if so on what grounds? What did you succesfully appeal?

Talking of movie titles, perahaps a sequal to "Goodbye Mr Chips" could be "For Whom the Bell Tolls", followed by "The Birdman of Alcatraz". But then, perhaps, as Sousa intimates "The Great Escape".:E

Huey Saga

The Shadow Darkens
I have noticed that, conveniently, there are never any news reporters in the High Court when I win my cases, however, for General Information; I have won the next round in my ongoing legal saga with the "Devil in Disguise" from the N1 freeway "Hell-hole".
For those who do not know or have forgotten; it all started way back when:- I filmed the illegal activities of my so-called neighbour on the Waterfront Helipad, and, against all logical odds, he actually won an Interdict to stop me filming. Apart from the filming, he also decided to sue me for "Loss of Earnings" to the tune of R1.5 Million, and ludicrously "Defamation of Character" (LOL) for a further R1.5 Million. He was awarded costs for the Interdict, and to that I objected, seeing that the proceedings are interlocutory, and I eventually won my appeal against those costs earlier this year.
I am counter suing, of course, and due to his demand for some R3 Million, I need to see his books, but, surprise, surprise, there are no books to speak of in this man's so-called "Club"! I have now succeeded in joining the so-called "Club" to the so-called "Ham Business" and the so-called "Owner of Companies", and now let's see what shakes out of the tree!
Years ago, when he started this whole legal saga, the newspapers referred to me as his "Shadow", but now he will see his "Shadow" darkening! The wheel turns slowly, but it does turn, and the chickens will eventually come home to roost.
Sorry my bent friend, but Honesty is always the Best Policy, and I will 'Ernestly' show you that Honesty will win out in the end.:=

Heli_Sticktime 29th Aug 2006 16:09

I got my front row seat, popcorn and coke, let the show begin, I was wondering why things have been so quiet on this topic....I'm sure Latent Heat & Gatvol will show up soon enough:D
Fighters to your corners please;)

B Sousa 29th Aug 2006 22:00

Sooner than you can believe..........LH will be here as soon as the "G" man can get the Vaseline on his hands and start wigglin the boys lips....(thats from the inside for all you folks from Wuppertal.)

So we have Ernest Mac with all of four posts on the the subject. Enlighten me as to who is Elvis. The only Elvis I ever met is dead now and rolling over in his grave with his out of control daughter getting her Wheels up and a wedding ring every week. He would have died anyway had she draged that little whatever Michael Jackson into Graceland while he was still breathing drugs.
Wait one, what were we talking about anyway. Oh yes, The Junkyard dogs and the Aluminum pile in the Cape.....
Certainly makes for an interesting read in this new South Africa. CAA wont approve them, yet they still fly? A few thousand threads on this forum have laid bare the reasons, yet they still exist and LH has enough funds for meailes at the end of the month. Pilots keep putting them in the logbooks to show......."I flew Hueys"......... Hope they want to make sure thats not in pencil. Looks better should they ever go to court and have to explain all the erase marks.

On the other side of the coin, a few in this country have done it properly and have some Hueys that are now working..... Hats off to those guys, they deserve a thread of their own, not to be mixed in with this group. I worked with one of the manufacturers of one of their machines and I know its quality, it also has a paper trail all the way back to Bell. Something the Cape crowd cant do.

Mr Broberg vs Mr van der Merwe..... Part 76

Heard a rumour from Cape Town today that Mr Broberg rustled up a SWAT TEAM (armed with fully automatic assault rifles) and descended on Mr van der Merwe armed with 11 charges.............. Anybody heard what the outcome was?

Avi8tor 7th Jan 2007 09:50

Go Gerry

I hope that operators that don't stick to the rules get there tails kicked!!!

Spray boy 7th Jan 2007 11:14

Pilots locked up.

:=
I believe Alice Fannyfluff was one of the two pilots that were arrested and taken off to jail.

Do you think we will see that in the next African Pilot.

Good to see that the CAA has some balls after all and have decided to crack down on these rogue operators, AND pilots.

It will be interesting to see who is next on their list.

:}

choppadriva 7th Jan 2007 12:09

Here is the outcome from what I can gather.
1) CAA raids Helibase with SWAT & a bunch of investigators. (I heard there was also a low-bed truck involved)
2) About 8 hours later...... CAA, SWAT, investigators & low-bed leave Helibase.
3) "Illegal huey" continues to operate business as usual.

Solid Rust Twotter 7th Jan 2007 12:23

Your point being?

choppadriva 7th Jan 2007 13:20

I didn't really have a point of view, but now that you ask......

There seems to be a consensus amongst the "experts" that the Huey Club are a bunch of cowboys with a total disregard for the law.

Mr Broberg was obviously very serious about shutting down this "illegal" operation yet dispite all his efforts, could not find sufficient legal evidence to do so.

First the courtcase (unsuccessful), now the raid (unsuccessful) :ugh:

When does this become harassment?

Spray boy 7th Jan 2007 14:32

Mr Choppa driva.
You seem to know a lot what went on and have a lot to say.
What startles me and I am sure a few others is, your tone actually seems to condone this Huey chopper saga.
.
Who says that this raid was a failure...(We all know you do).

As I said in my previouse post, I believe two pilots were arrested...were they arrested or is that just some useless bit of info that is doing the rounds.

If the pilots were arrested, why were they arrested....surely there must be some reason.....even Brouberg is not that stupid to have two pilots arrested for nothing...(especially Alice Fannyfluff).

Believe you me, for a cop to arrest someone for nothing, he knows that he is in the dog poo and even the great Brouberg cannot conjure an illegal arrest thru some cop he knows.

But I must admit, Iwould love to have been there to see the saga...eisch.:ugh:
