Accomodation in Bamako
I have posted this on the "night-stop" pages, but it doesnt look like anybody ventures to that part of the forum.
Who knows of a descent hotel in Bamako, preferably with an airport bus? Maybe you can give me some contact details at the same time. Tks.

Bamako
There is a new hotel that makes Salam look like a dump... Well about a year and a half old now next to the Russian (Huge) Embassy. Seem to remember that it is called the Palace hotel.
Rooms are CLEAN by any standards and neat with good air conditioning. Plenty of hot water for showers.
Excellent restaurant in the top floor with a pretty good view to the city. Not too badly priced either. It was the best night stop hotel and very secure withe friendly staff.
IŽll get you the name and contact info for tomorrow afternoon.
I think they where in the 75 USD to 100 USD per night bracket.
Cheers
JJ

I was there about 8 years ago. Stayed at the Sofitel in the middle of town. Definately no hotel busses in those days. Can`t imagine that things have got any better!!
Was a great restaurant called " La Campinyard" run buy a Lebanese family. Was really good value. Great bunch of guys running the show.
Anyone who has been there meet a local at the airport by the name of Mohammadu? He was always running around trying to do anything he could to make a few CFA. Wasn`t a bad chap, but I am sure the good old HIV might have gotten him by now!!

126,7: I actually live in Bamako (though I'm not involved in aviation); I can give you some names of places to go if you'd like.
On the Hotel front, most of the guys that work for us (we're a drilling company) stay in Le Campagnard. Went there for lunch today, actually. FWIW, the General Manager stays at Le Plaza when he's in town, though the daily rate is a little more, I think.
Drop me an email if you'd like to catch up for a beer, I'd be only too happy to show you around (though I've only been here a short while).
