Congo-BUTA & BUMBA
Just wondering if anyone has info on these places in the Congo.
Looks like I will have to fly to these places on a regular basis. I have had mixed advice. Some people say it should be ok if the pax have sorted things out with the rebels. Others say its crazy. However none of these people have been there for a long time.
Anyone know if fuel is available there? I have been told that it is not, again out of date info. I will be flying four hours plus to get there so may have to carry some extra fuel in cans.
Cheers all. Any info much appreciated, as I am totally ignorant on this part of the world.

I wouldn't leave it to my pax to sort out anything with any rebels. Not been to either of your destinations before, so don't know the fuel situ. If you're not flying in with an organisation ie:UN or Air Serv etc, then I wish you best of luck. You don't want to mess around in the Congo otherwise trying to get fuel is the least of your probs.
If you do go, bring MONEY (US$), and lots of small bills (sorry no change).
Even places like Kindu or Kisangani may have fuel, but not for you as it has been brought in for other organisations to use as they pass through.

Just a brief note. Dashing for take off. We were at both places with our Van last week end. Airield conditions good. No unusual problems with the local admin (for DRC). We carry our own drum of fuel (Ex Entebbe). Email me.

Regarding rebells and other info, can't help you I haven't been there for a long time.
If you need more airport info in RDC let me know I have a good data base with me
