Safety in Kinshasha DRC
This is more relevant to the proposed "campfire" forum - but it aint created yet so it's here!
A very good friend of mine (female) is to work in Kinshasha as an advisor to the DRC government for a short term economic advisory contact. She is keen to hear first had some of the safety/security issues in town before she signs the dotted line. She would be looked after pretty well by the government she is advising I would think, but still....
Can anyone offer some advice on this for her? And what is changing with the signing of the peace treaty in the last couple of days?
Thanks in advance

I've been here close on 3 months now and haven't felt much threat to date. Kinshasa I feel is pretty safe, its the other territories (mainly the rebel held ones) that could pose more of a problem safety wise. The one downside for her however would be having to deal with the corruption of the goverment here, its nothing squeaky clean...
As for the drive to and from the airport (as well as airport officials), thats a story on its own!
Good luck deciding.
