Arrow SAA signs deal with Mozambique

News 24

Maputo - South African Airways (SAA) and Mozambique's national carrier Linhas Aereas de Mocambique (LAM) have signed a code-sharing agreement that will allow joint bookings and extend each airline's reach on the continent, SAA said on Sunday.

The deal, signed in Maputo on Friday by SAA's executive vice-president for alliances and aeropolitical affairs Andile Mabizela and LAM chief executive Ricardo Viegas allocates 20 seats each flight for each airline.

The airlines could exchange privileges such as ticket booking so travellers from each partner airline could make seamless connections. In so doing, airlines could help fill up each other's planes and also reach areas outside their normal network, SAA spokesperson Rich Mkondo said.

"SAA and LAM's agreement further illustrates SAA's mission to increase and strengthen its partnerships throughout the African continent and provide additional services for its passengers. It also forms part of SAA's 'Networking Africa' growth strategy," Mkondo said.
