First Agusta A109ULH for South Africa in AFM November 2002

Agusta Westland rolled out the first A109ULH for the SAAF on September 6 at its Vergiate facility in northern Italy.
The programme is on schedule and within budget, with the first five of the 25 helicopters on order being manufactured at Vergiate before production is transferred to Denel's Kempton Park plant.

The South African Cabinet approved the purchase of 30 A109ULHs, and an option on a further ten helicopters was signed, in September 1999. The first A109 has already started qualification flights.
