HTKJ Kilimanjaro Reccomendations
Hi All, Will be flying into HKTJ for a few days end of this month. Would love to maximise time there to get a few game drives in from a tented safari camp . Anybody have any recommendations on trips/hotels or know some pilots flying there who would know what's good to see/do.
Thanks

Hello! Such a great spot with plenty to see. Your choices for lodging are Arusha or Moshi, both similar size and both one hour from the international airport. You can definitely spend a few days poking around town but for safaris, you're best to visit Arusha and take a flight directly to the safari camps instead of by road. Some safari camps offer a discount for aircrew employed in the area. Coastal aviation offers discounted fares for the same and a standby rate (space-available basis).
The major game parks in that area are Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Right now it's the dry season which typically attracts the crowds. But with COVID, maybe less people will show up. I recommend checking out some smaller parks like Ruaha which I found to be excellent. Have fun!
