Hi MOTHERGOOSE ,

I don't know if Kenya Airways has acquired Air Tanzania , but keep in mind that the management and part of the staff (including the pilots ) will remain .

As far as employment is concern you will have to be a Tanzanian national to be employ as a pilot , if you are a foreigner just forget about it .

Good Luck ,

Gusto

foriegners in e.a.

if you are not Kenyan or Tanzanian, it is almost impossible to get a job there. Tz is better since there is less of a local pilot base so chances are better

more info

For jobs in TZ, you now need 1000 hours for the operator to be able to get you a work permit. Also they will not even seriously consider you unless you have a TZ CPL conversion. Getting that license is a drawn out affair in itself. If you have 3-4 months and the money to spare, your best bet would be to go over to Arusha, Mwanza and Dar Es Salaam, meet the operators, convert your license and then approach them. It is a small town feeling and if you get to know the guys, you will know if it is going to make sense to convert. Trying to do it by phone or e-mail will just get you the `well, we don't really need anyone but maybe send a resume'. You need to be there to get hired.

Re: more info

Hey Shenzi_Rubani_HTAR (Bitch!) - Howareyoudoin'! Got ure message yesterday. Will wait 4 ure sched and book the holidays.

MOTHERGOOSE,
shenzi_rubani_HTAR is right on. this is the procedure if you're looking for a job there, but to update on Air Tanzania, the deal has not been announced yet, although due to the development of the East African Community, there are strong chances that KQ wins the bid on Air Tanzania. Don't forget that KLM is behind Kenya Airways and would love to strengthen their grip on the East African market. among the other companies bidding are SAA, Comair and 2 financial investors (one even called Air Lingus Investment intl.).
Knowing the way things are going in Tanzania when it comes to privatisation of state-owned companies, the Air Tanzania story could take years.

But keep searchin' and let us know if you're planning to come visit the land of the real Bush rubanis;

Air Tanz being private?

Unless the payoffs are just right, it ain't gonna happen in our lifetimes. Especially since you seem to be fading away already. Your phone left on the roof of your car? Poor dude!
