Malabo is an unexpectedly beautiful place, but can be frustrating. Handling is quite difficult there. Depending on the nationality of you and your crew, immigration may confiscate passports for duration of stay. They confiscated my flight attendant and First Officer's passport, but not mine. Allow plenty of time and patience for handling and customs there. Customs and Immigration do not take kindly to impatience, as I have witnessed with another biz jet crew there on one particular visit.

Never had any other issues outside of normal TIA in Freetown, Conakry or Monrovia. Lots of UN Helicopter traffic in Monrovia, but not much else. I always enjoy my beer from the bottle there, too

Congratulations on the big win.

Hi,

At Conakry :
there is a good handler who can help you with the fees, and the permit as well. His company is Sam Jet, his name is Sam, and email is [email protected]
Be advised that you can pay in Cash Eur or USD.
Conakry don't have a Good ATC. Twr from Gnd to FL110, for them the most important point are Time of departure, number of PAX, fuel remaining and aircraft MTOW.
That can be complicated when you are two in the pattern, with lot of com exchange for nothing.
Be prepared with Radial and Distance, for traffic separation.
Hotel are not so far from the airport, but there is only on highway, and lot of traffic Jam. The last time that's taken for 6km, 1h30...
No problems with the customs and police as well. Don't forget to take the Gen Dec With you

At Freetown
there is a well trained and good handler who can help you, for overflight and landing permit, Eagle Aviation, named Patrick (nice guy), by email [email protected] or [email protected]
The airport is average, old facilities, there is nowhere to stand your passenger.
Be careful, some hydrant sources are 15 cm heigh above the ramp.
You can pay to the handler directly in USD
There is a good hotel at 400 m from airport, lungi airport hotel, not too expensive, average room and food... perfect to stay all the day, and Fresh beer...for overnight
Otherwise, you have to take the speed boat to go to the downtown 30 minutes long. Try google to know the scheduled times...
ATC are average like in the region or Robert FIR. Lot of problems when you are three on the pattern. Twr from Gnd to FL110, for them the most important point are Time of departure, number of PAX, fuel remaining and aircraft MTOW as well.
If you have to stay overnight, you will have to reposition your aircraft after fueling.

ROB, very far away from everything. No hotel poor facility, but a very nice well new paved runway and good led lightning. Unfortunatly, the taxiways have no light, neither on the ramp. Be aware during Night.
There is a terminal under construction.
The handling is not good and very expensive one in western africa, like airport fees, landing charges, light , security, handling supervision, well trained crew fees... can be funy to read, not to pay...
To go to the down town, that we cost you 1h30 minutes.

Hope that helped you peter

There is an excellent hotel now located at Roberts (ROB)... it puts the Lungi Airport Hotel at FNA to shame.
