It's spelt Antonov.... your friend should seek help from a consultant... not pprune if he's going to make such a big investment into a corrupt aviation nation such as Nigeria

How to become a millionaire in the airline industry. Start as a billionaire and wait. In Nigeria I don't think you'd have to wait very long to become a pauper.

It's not just aviation that's corrupt in Nigeria. It's everything. Utter madness. And yes I do know what I'm talking about, friends of mine got fleeced by a 'businessman' in that hellhole who wanted to become a franchisee of their travel business. They ignored my warning to walk, or rather sprint, away and bitterly regret having done so.

Been here on-and-off since 2004....

Situation for business is better in general, but we don't make as much money as we used to because of that, and the general charter market is quite full these days....We've spread our risk and now work more or less all of West Africa and even though we're not yet paupers, we're not as rich as we thought we might be despite some good contracts with blue chip companies....

Added to that - security ( people and assets ) is always ??????

Having said all that - plenty of money to be made, still, if you want to accept jobs up to the north, but be careful, be very careful....

If you really want to make money, still plenty of space in the market in Angola which is awash with money and oil companies these days....And without the particular aggro that comes with God's Own Country....

daladaladriver, when you say seek help from a consultant, you mean a neurological or psychological hospital consultant, right?

Surely only these type of consultants could offer help to quell such ideas?

Are there many operators in Africa who operate the An-2 still? I'm checked out on it but only have something like 10h in the thing. Would this be enough to get a job on one?

A big problem in many countries with the AN2 is registration for commercial use - lack of a Type Data Certificate.

95 kts burning 200 litres of AVGAS per hour over long distances with a fairly small load isn't a recipe for commercial success.

AN-140!

tell him to consider using AN-140.
he can use new ones from company if he wants! and if he is keen i can get some more information for him directly from the company where its assembled!
They are being assembled by Saha Aviation in Iran, directly under supervision of AN, with Ukrainian engineers teaming u with Iranians!
