Flying Schools

I will be going down to Cape Town in around 2 weeks to start my pilots license. I would like to know what you guys think of the flying school at Cape Town International Airport. The schools I found were the following:

1. Cape Town Flying Club (This is the one I am planning to go to).
2. Civair
3. Trans Africa Aviation Academy

If you know any of these, please do tell me what you think, or if you know of any other at Cape Town International Airport. That would be much appreciated.

Thank You.

Of the three you have on your list, assuming you don't want to give helicopters a whirl, the first would seem the most logical choice.
Whether you're cramping your style with the weather at the tavern of the seas is another story.
There are rumours of an excellent flight school at George but then there are more luscious women in Cape Town.
As for any other schools down at the appendix of Africa:

The only schools in my opinion are Cape Town Flying Club and Stellenbosch Flying Club. Further afield are Progress in PE and 43Air School in Port Alfred AFIC in Oudschoorn!!! Be absolutely sure that you research your chosen training school very well, there are lots of dodgy operators out there. My youngster went to Progress in Port Elizabeth and I was very satisfied with the outcome. I live in Cape Town

Or try Afika Union Aviation Academy in Mafikeng airport, AFRIKA UNION AVIATION ACADEMY - AFRIKA UNION AVIATION ACADEMY . Have had a number of friends who were there and heard nothing but praise for it.

Mafikeng also has wonderful flying weather but besides that the little town has very little in terms of life and luscious women!!

Mmabatho capital of Bophuthatswana.
Hot and high, 4,172 ft with long runway parameters, 4,499 mtrs, VOR & NDB, excellent weather and little disruptive winds, little traffic, a vast general flying area, nothing to do except study and the fleshpots of Sun City available at a 2.5 hr drive away and the shops sell beetroot.
It's a hot candidate for the unsung flying school of the world and they shoot short wearing gun toting fat bellied Afrikaner trouble makers there too and Baden Powell got into trouble there for using lepidoptery as a cover for spying. So the place has an interesting little historical pedigree.
The joys of Botswana and Lobatse also await you, a short skirmish with the bush trails to the north.

You should really consider Stellenbosch Flying Club. Nice and competent bunch of people with lekker club atmosphere in a beautiful surrounding, only takes you a few minutes longer to go there. You would also avoid the congested FACT airport. Remember, you start paying when starting the engine and this includes waiting at the holding point for the next 5 airlines to land or depart on the single runway

AUAA Mafikeng

well about AUAA and mafikeng i must say that you both are quiet right. yeah AUAA used to be a good place for people to only consider studying, but i cant forget all the parties around town that we had, and as a non african person it was amazing! well you must learn how to live in mafikeng as it can be a lil different from all the places you have lived in!
however nowadays due to some poor management in last 2-3 years since late 2011 it went a lil down but i believe now its back on track as some of the arrogant instructors and staff left in the past couple of months!
