I thought Accra was quite pleasant, never lived there full time but stops for a few days at a time. Yes it is easier to cope with over Nigeria, who wouldn't want that.
The city is not a bad place to be, quite a few things to do. Wasn't too difficult to get around concerning traffic.
I think the airport itself is quite organised, I always thought Accra ATC was one of the best in the region (well compared to the regions standards). Organising flight plans, fees etc, was an easier process than other African nations and the prices weren't as ridiculous as the usual ASECNA charges.
All in all, I would say this is good for Ghana, plus they have fairly reasonable growth. I wouldn't mind being based there whatsoever. Anyone want to hire me?

I know Accra very well .. it's a cool place, safe and it can be great fun.
Airport is ok, but whilst the ATC suite is state of the art, basic communications regarding important stuff like a squall line approaching the airport is often overlooked .. so watch yourself.
PM for more details, I'm going to be travelling this week so it may take a few days to respond.

There are lots of websites for non aviation information on expat life in Accra; accraexpat, has a forum and a helpful 'how to' guide of accra. There are many facebook pages for Accra expats, you can join and ask.
There is enough to do in the city, most of your social life will be at other people's homes. It's not the most vibrant city but its ok, safe and secure compared to the rest of west Africa. Some beautiful coastline and forests to visit if you drive a few hours out the city. It is expensive if you want to live like a westerner, I pay $3500 per month in rent for a 2 bedroom house
If you can't find enough information on the forums then feel free to PM me. Yes I am a pilot based here so give me a call if you ever end up here. Good luck.
