Interesting to see an aircraft coming in on a long final for 23... Always thought it was deemed unsafe overflying the port.

Was there a long time ago (1991-92) with Northwest Airlines, flying troops into and out of there. We had a USMC Cobra with us from touch down to the ramp and F-18's overhead. Nice to see more airplanes on the ramp than we saw back then.

Aircraft was ER-BBS (JetStar Cargo of Moldova).

She came in on 23 because of 17 knot tailwinds on 05. It is always available as an option for arriving aircraft, but ATC cautions that the choice is "at your own discretion". The port (and most of the areas between there and the airport) is pretty secure nowadays and we get maybe 3-5 arrivals using 23 every week.

Parking her was a major challenge. She wound up blocking all 7 stands on the northern half of the main ramp. Then she wound up having to stay overnight due to some offloading issues, so more issues this morning before finally departing at 0806z.
