International Aviation College,Ilorin
Rumours have it that "Africa's world class flight training institution" just placed orders for 15 additional trainer aircraft. It doesn't seem clear if they might still be Diamonds or Cessna's. The college currently operates 4 Diamond Aircraft. Fully fitted with G1000 and FADEC systems......nice coming out of Nigeria!

Training pilots to fly what?
The flood of private jet operators present unending reasons to not employ locals, scheduled operators often demand hours on type, the para military services seem not an attractive option for new hands, and the number of trained unemployed is several dozen (and rising). Why don't our leaders pause to first ask where exactly we're headed, before splashing public money on projects which have poor chances of succeeding?

One problem with the IAC in Ilorin is that it's a state funded venture and has already had a major change in its senior management since first being certified by the NCAA. However, as an alternative to the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, at least in these turbulent times it's maybe in a better geographical location and Ilorin is a fairly quiet but well-equipped airport.
