Lagos ATC an accident waiting to happen

Flying to Lagos yesterday ,when trying to contact LAG on 120.9 or 123.7, no reply from ATC for a long time, 6 A/C arriving to LAG at different levels, when
Lagos finally replayed, his transmission was so poor that pilots where guessing trying To understand the altitudes that they where cleared to, making impossible to access to the frequency since every one was asking for clarification about the
Altitude clearance, at one stage two pilots where descending to the same altitude, thanks to the intervention of a third pilot, that call them and corrected
The clearance a near air collision was avoided, why is it like this always in Lagos
Control, since 2009 there where a lot of incidents regarding ATC communications
But aviation authorities do nothing to fix this problem..They have to do something before an accident take place

They seem to have Fixed 128.5 on Kano west and trying to resurrect 120.9 for Lagos west. Kano 128.5 was constantly strength 1/5 for a very long time before it was fixed. They might be having issues with their repeater stations. Problem is, Lagos airspace is a lot more congested than Kano. so this problem should be addressed a lot more quickly.

Eye Service

Madam Stella feels its more important to break down all the terminals and transform half of them while the other half are abandoned. At least the flying public can see the terminals and be happy while being totally unaware of what's happening at the pointy end and how much danger they might face due to sh**ty ATC comms.

Eye Service as we like to call it in Naija.

We've filled countless ASRs on this issue and nothing is still being done.

I flew to Lagos at the beginning of January this year and I totally agree.

Shortly before our arrival it looked like a near miss occurred overhead Lagos (we did not hear the complete situation though) and the controller seemed to loose control over the situation afterwards. Another controller took responsibility then and ordered holdings to clear the traffic situation. However, we still had to ask for confirmation about nearly every clearance we received. For example, more than once we were cleared to a level which was actually an altitude and vice versa. The clearances have been confirmed by Lagos but later on it turned out the difference was not understood...

Luckily enroute there is IFBP (although there's a lot of traffic transmitting but not listening) but the situation on approach is one of the worst I know about.

My experience with the arrival and departure radar controllers was very good.

The problem was with the "center", or "control" controllers for traffic transiting the Lagos airspace. They do not have enough frequencies, so there is MASSIVE radio congestion. I had 2 RAs due to this problem.

Heard Egypt Air and ASKY exchanging call signs yesterday afternoon and talking about writing a report. Apparently had an RA. Seemed quite close the way ATC was yelling at one of them...
