FASTJET (THE 2013 OFFICIAL THREAD)
This thread is for all things related to Fastjet which intends to be a Pan African airline carrying over 12 million passengers a year throughout Africa.
Being based in Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Angola and possibly South Africa, through it's acquisition of fly540 and recently 1time airways, there is sure to be a shake up in African aviation!

Caution
Signing an 'option agreement' is NOT 'buying'.
There are many conditions that need to be satisfied, not least any deal must satisfy the current creditors of 1time.

Note the paragraph:
This little matter of R462m is missing from the Fastjet website.

Note the paragraph:
Hannes Muller of Tshwane Trust, 1time’s provisional liquidator, said the new shareholders would make an offer to 1time’s creditors, who are owed about R462m. If the creditors approved the arrangement, this would be submitted to court for sanction.

Posted with tongue in cheek as there's no reference on Fastjet's website over the small matter of the legal ownership issue in SA!
Thanks for the better article!

From what i've seen and heard on the radio from "gray bird" they currently have 3 319s in dar, purchased fly540 and 1time for the international routes and are being brought to court by precision over the nairobi routes.
they are currently being flown by 2 captains from what im assuming is easyJet and are currently training locals to take over from there.

Actually, I doubt they'd be based in J'borg... They would just be based up here and have daily flights TO J'borg which as of right now only SAA offers... Precision pulled out of that market earlier this year.
