I think there is quite a large holding pool, with a large number of ex ATR pilots to be hired, before they go looking elsewhere.

At present as has been mentioned there is a lrge holding pool of about 25guys - mostly ex atr pilots but a few from link, and others too - the normal pool is around 8. They have taken two this month, the first in the last 18months, and there are a few resignations coming but nothing like the 25 guys in the holding pool, so there is movement but could still be a while before interviews start - keep updating your CV great place to work, and you never know things could change quickly aviation is a funny game!

@BOEING EUROPE:

I'm sure Comair are falling over themselves to give 1000 hour guys like you a chance.

After all, you can't spell and only want to work there for a "while".

Why would they bother with all those highly qualified locals, who may actually want a career, as opposed to a paid holiday?

Honestly, your post came across as rather dimwitted. Pretty much what I'd expect from a pay to fly Ryanair hero.

Bit harsh there dude.

Anyway, there might be slightly more movement in the next couple of months at Comair, but like others have said, don't hold your breath. If they took any more than four people in the next couple of months I'd be surprised (not that they don't need more, it's just that Comair runs about as lean as you can go without having people drop from fatigue) Comair has been pretty quiet in terms of new hires for quite some time, and any potential applicant is competing against people with a good couple of thousand hours, jet time, ATP's, instructors ratings etc etc. And the 'pipeline' is full atm.

Heard they are getting some new 737-800's (or already got them?)

Wouldn't this mean they need more pilots, or are they selling their older airframes?

The total airframe count will basically remain the same from now, ie new planes doesn't mean more pilots needed.
