SAA Avro York Resouce Material

Hi

I am looking for some resource material for a side project, can any one help?

Required: Any pictures or drawings of Avro York aircraft in South African Airways livery.

I have scoured the internet and nothing is sufficient in terms of detail.

Please PM any info!

Thanks

HP

The eight Yorks were leased from BOAC from 1945-1947 or even 45/46? Were any of them ever even painted in Springbok colors?

Here is one on a ZS registry called the Impala. That might have been as high a paint job as anyone could spring to in postwar austerity.

Yeah that is basically the extent of whats available out there, not great if you want to customise a model...

As far as I know, several wore ZS- registrations, I dont have the figures on hand right now..

Sorry not to be of any help. I've had a look at some old BOAC sites with no luck. Collectors Treasury in JNB might have some collections of old postcards perhaps? Old postcards are often a decent source of strange and wonderful sights.

Trek Airways flew Yorks as well. (Apparently I have flown in one!)
