What is trending? Nigeria and Ghana
As a previous disgraceful thread was rightly closed by mods: I wonder if we could answer a legitimate question as posed in last post of that thread, in an informative way.
Is West Africa to Europe via ACC now bigger than via LOS/ABV or is it just that ACC is growing at a faster rate? Though without any current stats I think it is latter because Nigeria market is just enormous compared with Ghana. It seems BA and VS are the ones who could tilt that change if current disagreement between those two and Nigerian authorities is not addressed.

Geez, they've started again, they just know too much. Am sure Facebook and Twitter have made it into the relevant dictionaries, just can't be bothered to confirm if not.
Salesconsult, what i know is that the Nigerian Government somehow suddenly realised that Nigerians have been cheated all this while. What amuses me is the fact that the same Government patronises these airlines much more than they do the local airlines. The twist in this saga is that a local carrier's dilemma with acquiring Heathrow slots opened up the Government's eyes; despite previous calls for all Bi-lateral agreements to be reviewed, slot or no-slot.
The story from the foreign operators is the high cost of doing business in Nigeria in comparison with say Ghana, both places experience the kick-back syndrome but i don't see it as sufficient justification for a large gap in fares out of Accra and Lagos. You can operate without the kickbacks.
Is Accra market bigger than Lagos, i doubt it, you will find that a significant chunk of the Accra market comes from Lagos, that's my theory, anyone with more definitive information can prove mine as incorrect.
It certainly is becoming a rat race considering another local carrier is scheduled to resume LGW next month. Whether they will last long on the route is another issue to be considered.
