Zambezi Airlines grounded

Zambezi has been grounded indefinitely, due to its failure to maintain safety standards. The Ministry of Transport announced this on TV last night.(Saturday 29th October)

None of their 737-500's have been flying so they have been hiring in aircraft - not that it helped much as the chartered 737-200 returned to Lusaka after a precautionary engine shut down! This didnt do much for passenger confidence!

Zambia just cant seem to keep an airline going..guess ticket prices will go up again on SAA.
Its a shame really, lots of people worried about their future.Perhaps they will clean up their act and start again, once their debts have been cleared as well!

Proflight has been running for 20 years now. Yes ticket prices will now increase and we'll all miss that direct dar flight. :-(

Last info was that airline owner taking Zambian autorities to court over the grounding.
Can anyone confirm the latest news?

Yes, that is the latest news in the papers in Zambia, but i always thought that the Authorities had priority, if they suspected an oversight issue they can ground them until the oversight issue is rectified or found to be not an issue, safety comes first.

I dont think the court thing will come to much. so where do they go then, will they be able to recover from a 1 - 2 month complete stopage?
