I say VK croaks first. They likely won't start the LGW route either.Just like the 9 or so routes W3 announced at the beginning of the year, have yet to come to fruition. I don't think a new route has been launched this year. it's unfortunate.

Who first...
Hmmmm well I really don't know, but by all accounts W3 should have failed sometime ago but somehow are still limping on. I don't know if VK has the same stamina to say the least. Is the industry big enough for 2 megalomaniacs? Only time will tell

Granted I'm an uninvolved third party here, but is there an author cited for the above-linked article on Air Nigeria's imminent collapse? Their dealings with the tax men are well documented, but much of the article is based on an unidentified source.
In other news, VN seems to have signed a code share deal with Delta. Wasn't Arik in the market for a similar deal with a foreign carrier? What impact would this have on VK's far-fetched intercontinental plans? One would think Delta would be more hesitant to arrange a code share with an established loser. I don't suppose they know something we don't...

It appears that VK is fast following in the foot steps of Arik in terms of late salaries, looks like AJ and JI are birds of the same feather.
But it beats me how wealthy, self proffesed billionairs' sporting state of the art business jets and living the lush life don't think it honourable, just, fair, equitable, proper to pay their workers salaries as at when due.
Looks like the wealthier, some of these business men are, the more cruel, wicked, heartless and uncaring they become.
Again, why acquire so many airplanes, employ so many staff, establish so many routes, only to find out later that you cannot sustain the operation and the first thing to suffer is staff salaries, when they could easily have settled for just enough aircrafts, and corresponding staff to ensure a sustainable operation.
Guess different people think differently.

what do you mean by "different people think differently"?
You answered your own question when you said "why acquire so many airplanes, employ so many staff, establish so many routes, only to find out later that you cannot sustain the operation". Hindsight is 20/20, I might be wrong, but I believe they are not the first business to find out later on a particular course of action/strategy was not the correct/optimal one.

The point is, accepted, it's a free world, however when VK's chairman, against professional advice embarked on a grandiose expansion plan in an airline that just barely avoided going bankrupt, put out adverts for different categories of staff, not bearing in mind that if he does not have a honest and sincere intention to run a stable, organised and efficient airline, but rather is on an ego trip, keeping in mind that the same man had dabbled into another airline in the past (EAS/Nicon), which shortly after went under, then it's obvious that the man does not realise that he's toying with people's well being, welfare, livel-ihood and survival.
