Hi, I dont think its a good option right now.

Salaries have not been paid yet,(Feb 11) the catering company stopped supplying due to non-payment, ATNS and Menzies (SA) had some issues over accounts, Iata Clearing house membership suspended and the bills just keep coming in...

I hope there is a rescue plan as we dont need another airline to fail in Zambia!

Seems as if it might be the end of the road for Zambezi…….SAFAIR impounded their B735 due to money owed. Sad,

Ownership of the aircraft is irrelevant.

If a foreign company owes you money you can get an order from a judge and impound any of their assets which happen to be in your country.

A good strategy is to have the order ready and wait for an aircraft or ship to arrive in port. The more expensive the impounded asset the more likely you are to get paid in a hurry.

All the Zambezi 737's are leased. There are no assets of real value!

Leasing makes no difference - once impounded the aircraft will not move until the debt has been paid. If the airline is bust the leasing company
will have to pay before they can repossess the aircraft.
OTOH impoundment is not the same as siezure, the creditor cannot sell
the aircraft to collect the debt without a seperate siezure order from the court.
This is the similar to a rented car being illegally parked and wheelclamped.
Someone has to pay before it can move.

It will indeed be sad to see yet another 9J airline go under.
I am surprised though if Zambezi is in trouble, I understand it has good financial backing and the CEO is ex Jet2 Dutchman with lots of experience.
Be interesting to hear more views and opinions on what is happening.
Only other serious operator is Proflight in Zambia, I hope they are doing well.
