EMB 135 Air Nam

They are apparently looking for contract crews. Heard via the grapevine that Airlink instructors are doing the training.

Apparently the contract crews will come from Risworth, if at all needed. No direct contracts.
1st ERJ online and it goes like sh*t of a shiny shovel!

I spoke with a fella who was hired by Air Namibia to fly right seat in the ERJ.
He goes to the UK next week (or the week after) for three weeks for jets transition, then to France for type rating.
He said he's one of 24 in his class, all hired in the last three months.

I can only tell you what he told me.
Class of 24, hired over the last couple of months, all Namibian citizens. I believe ads were in the newspaper, but which paper?

Rumor has it they're planning on hiring 100 total this year.

24 domestic pilots that is, I doubt SW will hire foreigners except instructors (from Airlink) to train SW's own. Some captains came from their A340 fleet...

I believe that some Captains for the ERJ came from the F/O B735 and one Captain A343 is helping out on the ERJ and to become TRI/E on the ERJ.

How many crews will they need on the ERJ fleet? Where will they come from? Can a non namibian apply for a contractors position with a current ERJ P1 Type Rating? I checked Rishworth and nothing was advertised?

I believe that two A319 are being sourced to be operatable by April. Any news on crew requirement there? minimum hours?

I took a photo of it today on the tarmac at Maun. Looks damn nice
I'll post it up later when the internet speed picks up...
Crews are obviously new to the areas though. Had no idea where the TMA boundary was

The word here (in Windhoek) is that the crews are contract, and temporary, until the new class of 24 finishes their training.
All of the 24 are Namibians.
The rumor is that they will not be hiring anyone who is not a Namibian citizen.

Possibly a bit OT:

Who is the present MD of AIR NAM? I think the last guy, Kosmas Egumbo, left last year...

Did anyone see the ad in the newspaper? I suppose if they are Namibian, there was no need for an ad?

As far as I know, Ms Theo Namases is still acting MD, vacancy was posted on their website. Last known intake was probably early last year. What I think is happening now is that their only moving their B190 crew to the Erj 135 with assistance from the more experienced crew from other fleets who will come in as P1s...

The article talks about four pilots being trained, three for captain of the ERJ, one for FO of the 737. States some hours, and other information.
The information in the article about the suit makes it sound like four pilots are being trained, however the pilots I've spoken to have between 300 and 500 TT, and are all being trained for FO on the ERJ.
What's my point?
There are more than four being trained.
