Gupta chopper lands at Zoo Lake
It seems the Gupta family have taken over JHB and besides wanting a helipad at their new estate in the middle of built-up Saxonwold, have now also taken to landing at Zoo Lake to pick up Gupta family members who arrive in big black cars with flashing blue lights - apparently without CAA permission. What are the consquences for the pilot and also the operators of chopper? Story in The Star today. Sorry no URL.

What really worries me about this is that this well-connected family are likely to get their way, CAA rules or not. But if things go pear-shaped during a landing or lift off in a built up area, an awful lot of lawyers are going to make a whack of money out of the organisations that sanctioned the operations. Now who might that be? Lets start with the JHB municipality and the CAA and then the insurance companies...
