converting to a SA CPL
Hey there fellow flyers. I'm currently living in the UK and working as a CPL(H) and FI(H). can anyone tell me what I need to do to convert a CPL and maybe my FI to an SA license?
Also, my dream is to work in game capture, I cant think of anything more fun do in a helicopter! what are the job prospects like at the moment?

The shift has been to microlights for game capture dont know of many choppers still being used . You would have to do the Law exam and do a check ride to get the validation

Well, I do not know about basic research which you can do on the internet or on Rotor on Pprune or on Afrika Aviation or on CAA website but here is a little stuff on which for you to do some homework.

You may also be finding a problem with a work permit of course and then also if you go for a validation you will only get a validation for what is on your UK licence and no possibility to put a SA rating on that validation.
If you want to convert your UK/JAR licence to a SA one, in the other words, to have an SA licence, I think you will have to write several exams unless, possibly, you have at least 500 hours on a specific type when you may be able to apply for an exemption. The CAA are the only people who could helo you with this but I siggest that you make contact with a flight ops inspector/helicopter, and not just a person at the licensing department.

Based upon your current (UK) license the SACAA will give you a one time off 1 year validation. In order to get the validation you'll need to write Air Law and Procedures and do a flight test. Once you've past the validation process you'll need to write Meteorology and Flight Planning and Performance within the year to get your full SACAA license. Hope this helps.... Oh btw, it's a pain in the ass as most of the exam questions are bs with wrong answers... Wonder who actually came up with all them questions.....
