Good Steak in PE

Hello any PE regulars, we will be bringing the jurrasic jet into PE early afternoon Tues 21st, need a recommendation for a good steak dinner near the beach. Tis a long time since I was in town there and things may have changed.
Thanks in advance,
yambat

Howzit yambat,

Firstly, what the hell is a jurrasic jet? Is it a dinosaur? hehe!

I would highly recommend, The Coachman, in Cape Rd.. which is obviously not by the beachfront, but their steaks are excellent! Tel: 041 373 3440

Otherwise, De Kelder, which is on the beachfront by the Marine Hotel, is also pretty good. Tel: 041 5832750

Enjoy!

Thanks for that, we will be staying in Humewood, so De Kelder it shall be. Yup, ours is a dinosaur, DC8, though she is number 554 of 555!

I have to Agree - coachman by a long way, de kelder is rather pricey so i have heard, and coachman is very close and good value for your money!!!

Enjoy!

I'd take The Coachman over De Kelder.

Nothing is far in PE

Enjoy The Windy Friendly City!

For a venue, nothing beats Blue Waters Cafe at the old Red Windmill at the Hobie Beach pier. Steaks are great, prices reasonable and you are on the water. Never had a bad meal in over 50 visits.

But I must agree that The Coachman is the best in town. George is a legend.

Thanks to all of you who advised me, sadly we smoked into PE later than expected, around 16z and then the client wizzed us off to the local Spur, frankly better than anything in Ras Al khaimah, but not what I expected. Perhaps tomorrow down to Hobbie pier before blast off though sadly the vin rouge will go the hard way!!
Cheers

PE Dolphins, Yup, tis true, we crew changed in MRU, smooth ride to there and I heard last night that the dolphins are safe and well in the oceanarium, apparently tired but eating, they travelled well. They had a tremendous amount of attention in the back .

Haven't been to PE for a while but there used to be a place called the "Hungry I" that did everything bigger and better than most of the others.

Update on the Dolphins

From the EP Herald

BAYWORLD’s prized dolphins are enjoying the run of a brand new inter-linked pool system at their new home at Ocean Park in Hong Kong – even before the park’s more established residents get a look in.

Domino and Dumisa were transferred to Ocean Park in July as part of a multi-pronged partnership established between the Hong Kong institution and Bayworld. The partnership is aimed at allowing them to breed with other Indian Ocean bottlenose dolphins to strengthen the genes of their offspring and to avoid possible second generation in-breeding between them.

Bayworld spokesman Elouise Matthys said yesterday that the physical condition of the two dolphins was good.

“They are both doing very well. They have adjusted to the different fish they are being fed and are eating well. The warmer water and weather means they had to shed some blubber, but Domino especially is maintaining his summer weight nicely.”

Despite their long journey and strange surroundings, there have been few changes in their behaviour, she said.

Capetonian, your post brings back some happy memories. i well remember the Hungry I from the early 1970s. The Lychee Gardens a couple of blocks away was another great place. Its resident band was the Bits and Pieces. The Hotel Elizabeth was another good place for dinner and dancing. Those were wonderful times in PE.
Are those places still operating?
