What's Happening in Mauritius?
Hello Paradise,
Well we have seen copious amounts of the lads up here for interviews, so can anyone tell us how things are shaping up?
Speaking to those up here it seems there is a bit of mixed feelings whether contracts will be renewed. Understand the company is setting all kinds of cost reducing scheme into place eg Capt paxing in Eco.
Is moral as low as the guys are saying?
Hope MK will ride this wave and nobody loses their job. Sounds like Pt Louis are doing a fine job as usual, but surely Flight Ops can see the where this is going? Im sure PB is in their fighting for the pilots as usual.
Chin up boys....

Rumour has it that some contracts are being renewed, but with a forced 3 month break of no work and no pay. Some of the management expats have had this type of renewal offered but also only as a line pilot.
Morale is said to be at an all time low with just about all expats seriously looking elswhere. So sure many will join you in the desert shortly.

Most if not all expat F/Os will leave by the end of the year.
But it is not so bad to fly a Captain as IFR - will put up the experience level in the cockpit.
Else with 2 Playstation pilots this job is becoming a tough cookie...

Seems as if the exodus has started. The first 3 have handed in the required papers to the bosses. Understand they were unimpressed that these guys would want to leave!!

Exodus started, wont be hiring locals because by the time the"busy" end of year season is upon them they will be in a huge hurry to hire rated pilots cos they WILL be short on crews.

Caught red handed with French Champagne
Could anyone confirm that a Mr.Popular mauritian A340 First Officer with australian citizenship got LYNCHed with company property...Champagne bottle or bottles of his last trip from Hong Kong..
He is now suspended until further investigations....
That same chap was lurring Etihad in the very near future...
Will that affect his entry into Etihad?
If yes, how long?If one is a good bull**** artist...

Thieves in MK...NO!!!!
Hi Dodoflies,
Does your name reflect the way you fly? We all know the history of the ill-fated DODO. If you are the person I think you are then your name suits you very well.
You dont need to worry about what EY thinks, all you need to know is you will never get through the interview. The way MK treats its pilots is well known, so this little incident comes to no surprise.
Theft is unacceptable and if someone is found guilty then they should be discipline but this should apply to everyone who has been caught.
Well done Dodo, it's guys like you who makes MK what it is today.
Judging by the amount of guys coming up for interviews, I think MK has a much bigger problem on it's hand than trying to catch crew with alcohol in their bags.

Whatever the hell is happening there,it is not surprising.PAX always complain the service is terrible since Air Mauritius has cut down costs on all stuffs (except CEO and Management 6 digits salaries+remmunerations).
When you are taking Air Mauritius flights, remember to bring your own food and if the plane crashes, don't expect to be assisted by the low number of staff onboard.
Now crew stealing alcohol and getting suspended, that was a nice way to get expelled and run to Ethihaaaad.Who is not dreaming of escaping this hell anyways?
Does anyone know the new terms and conditions of low cost contracts there as FO A340? And are they still reserving right of admission to family members or the exclusive politically correct chumps?
