I think I'll bid Embraer 170 after I put in my A340 bid.

The 'order' for the E170s was never really announced and simply appeared in Embaers order schedule, so I would tend to agree with suitcaseman's hypothesis re losing their deposit. Delivery was meant for early 2011 so thats still a fair bit of time for them to decide what to do.

The E170 would be a ideal replacement for the 146/RJ-85s Link currently fly, but do they have they $$$ for new aircraft at the moment?

Not only that, you seriously have to question the sanity of any airline that would order 25 E135s. The E135, while from a technical perspective is solid, has been a commercial failure, as most E135 operators are trying to get rid of them. The economics of it do not work. That aircraft is an absolute lemon, burning fuel like a jet but with only 37 pax. If anything it should have been 25 E145s. It just shows how foolish their management and sector planning okes are.

Glad I'm not a Linker'. Good luck to my mates there!!!

Ah, makes sense. Always wondered why they'd gone for the E135 vs the E145.

The Embraer remains a great aircraft. Would be nice to see some 170's or so in SA skies.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

How about some E190s or E195s? With the exception of some of 1time's DC-9s there are no true 100 seat aircraft flying around in RSA.

The 1Time DC9s doesn't seem to be flying around much anymore, not on their scheduled flights anyway, they were 110 seaters. Other than that there is still many 737-200s of BA, Kulula, Interlink, InterAir still with around 100seats (93 to 118). Also Airlink's BAe146-200 comes close, with 97 seats.

The first Embraer 190 in SA skies will infact be from a neighbouring country, with LAM expected to receive two aircraft later this year.

Would be great if Airlink can have a few EMB170s, would suit them better than the BAe/Avros.

airlink should not operate, or be allowed to operate anything larger than a bicycle. They might just be able to keep the maintenance up on that
