Yes there were Buses

Well 1990 there were buses , what an adventure.
The drivers come straight from the Ferrari driving school , they did not even know the reasons of the brakes in their buses and I will never forget the chicken that was flying over my face during the trip at night inside the bus.
Gas station are available along the routs, where you can get rice , hot Guinness and meat , well I guess was meat.
Look at down town Dar there must still a company, run usually by Indians, that this kind of business.
I got my Visa at the border with Zambia.

Yeah... There are lots of them doing the route.. Was around 40 dollars a year and a half ago...
I believe on the Ugandan passport you wont need a visa, I never needed one on my kenyan passport... But tell them you'll be there for a while, maybe for a visit or so, else they'll give you a two week stay in the country...
The buses aint as bad as described.. Okay, depending of course on the one you take..
There is also a train that runs from Tz to like 80 kilometers from Lusaka. But I think it runs twice a week

Tazara Express

From Dar es Salaam to Kapiri Mposhi. Trains depart Dar on Tuesday and Friday at 1550 arriving Kapiri Mposhi Thursday and Sunday at 09.26.
Jouney is 1860 km long. Kaprir Mposhi is about 200km north of Lusaka and 130kms South of Ndola. 1st class train fare is KW 200,000(US$40) each incl sleeper. Train serves local food. You can get a bus to Lusaka from Kapiri for KW 40-50,000 (US$8-10)
Apparently well worth doing of you have the time as the scenery en route is stunning and game will be spotted. Plans were announced earlier this year to extend the service though DRC and Angola to Luanda!!.You can buy ticket at the station on the day.
