IOSA Audit At Airlink?
Just got news, that Airlink has/had an Operational Safety Audit!
Any information out there about this as I am still emotionally connected to AL!?
Heard only it went reasonably well and knowing that audits are always a st, this would show a surprisingly solid operation!?
Puts a new twist on all the negative postings on PPRUNE!
What did they find? (as they always find something)
Anything major?
Was this a standard audit or did "someone" call IATA before?
Any other company having an audit and if, how did they do?

All IATA members are supposed to have had IOSA audits by end of 2008. So nobody needed to call auditors in. Actually, there will be a hassle because of that deadline due to limited auditors capacities worldwide.
There usually is a huge list of findings, simple one as well as serious ones, depending on the individual situation of each airline. I don't expect anybody to reveal the results here as all parties involved are subject to confidentiality clauses.
(I am working for a consulting company dealing with the findings after an IOSA audit.)

IOSA is only a paper exercise. They check whether you have the correct systems in place and whether you track the right stuff (eg. crew legality).
Whether you actually operate like that is not checked.
BTW, Nationwide passed an IOSA audit shortly before the engine came off and all the irregularities in their AMO work came to light.

Hi Nugpot,
IOSA checks for both "Documented" and "Implemented", as should any proper audit. The IOSA audit is painfully thorough, but admittedly, doesn't get to the level of stripping down aircraft in the process (Nationwide engine issue).
It's a far more then just a paper exercise, and a very accurate indication of the airline's operational state of affairs.

We had recently an audit and it was rather shocking how deep they went!
That's why it would be so good to see how good/bad AL did! (even with or because of hate-pet JVJ!)

Hope the audit goes well for you guys. Anyway though, one may (should really) see it as a good way to obtain a list of "must do items" to sort out any operational weaknesses. It's almost like having a group of specialist Flt-Ops consultants come in and give the airline a good once-over.
It's always one hellava lot of work to solve the Findings, but well worth the effort.
Here's to a really jacked-up, and compliant SA airline aviation industry!
