Anyone knows where to rent a single or twin engine in Swakopmund ? With SA CAA License do you have to get a validation even if it is PPL only ?

Yes, you will have to do a check ride and then get a validation. Don`t know about Swakop but you might come right in Eros.

You need to write airlaw, a radio exam and do a check flight before you get a validation. The DCA also needs to confirm your authenticity of your SA CAA licence.

Be wary of this authentication - it nearly caught me out last year. Check with the SA CAA how long they take to respond - the UK CAA take up to 2 weeks

On a different note, while I have no idea of self-fly hire in Swakop, I do know someone at Eros. PM me if you need details.
