1st Nationwide, now MK

Apparently MK Airlines has closed shop from 10 June 2008. Knew a couple of Saffers flying for them.

Is this not what they said about NW?

All the refuelers up in Africa are not allowed to refuel MK-a/c by order!
Looks like we'll see a new franchise opening up soon on some aprons: "MK-Diner's" (Run by M & V!?)

The good thing is that there are still jobs out there for the guys!

Wouldnt write MK off yet. All carriers suffering bcoz of fuel prices. Mike K is a very determined character and I'm sure he will pull it thru......

Airlines like MK operated on the business model of cheap aircraft and relatively cheap fuel, but higher fuel burns. Now that fuel is through the roof there is just no way that they will be able to stay afloat, unless they move into more modern and fuel efficient freighters immdiately, and those are not just sitting around waiting for buyers.

Saw an Ad in Financial Times ... MK Airlines and all its assets up for sale !!
Including an R44.
Not too many buyers for old 747 freighters I'm afraid. May get some money for various properties, and the name, but someone will have to invest a fortune to keep it running with new aircraft, and as someone said, not too many available. Rather sad.......the cycle appears to be turning ....

Watch this space! Bets are on that Cluver/Civair/Irwin et al will offer to pick up the slack here again!
