Execujet in Cape Town

I believe construction on a new Execujet hangar is taking place at Cape Town International.

Any idea when this is due for completion and which aircraft they are to be based there?

I saw some construction commencing/ busy in the area next to Thunder City, which I believe is the grounds bought for the facility.

I personally think that after completion of the facility there might be some over capacity at the time of FBO's services at CTIA. Would be great though to have a FBO of that standard in Cape Town!!

Hopefully more aircraft could be based there with some more pilot positions available out of Cape Town.

Will probably see more PC12 there!

Herewith an article I wrote and which appeared in the May issue of SA Flyer:

New ExecuJet Business Centre launched

A new R250 million aviation centre fronting onto Cape Town International Airport was formally launched on 12 March 2008.

Cape Town based property developers Dave Mostert and Johnny Cullum conceptualised the idea of building the aviation business centre almost 2 years ago.

As described in our March 2008 issue, the new Fixed Base Operation (FBO) will include a 10 000m2 four level terminal building with split-level basement parking. The A-grade office space has already attracted interest from a number of aviation related businesses, with Agusta and Sikorsky confirmed tenants.

Visiting passengers will enjoy luxury facilities, including a VIP lounge, meeting room and showers. Visiting crews will also be able to enjoy a lounge, briefing room, rest and sleeping areas. Negotiations are under way for customs and immigration facilities.

On either side of the modern office building are two hangers: a Jet Hangar of 5 347m2 managed by ExecuJet and a Helicopter Hangar of 2 262m2 managed by HeliVip. The Business Centre will have direct access to the runways

Ettore Poggi, Managing Director of ExecuJet South Africa, said that he was pleased that Mostert had brought his idea to ExecuJet.

ExecuJet established a physical presence in Cape Town just over three years ago and share a small facility with Flicape Aviation. This relationship will continue once the new facility is opened.

Poggie said “Our business in Cape Town has grown exponentially and since July last year has increased fourfold.”

Poggie added that ExecuJet would increase their Cape Town service offering to include aircraft sales, aircraft management services, handling services, aircraft charter and maintenance, helicopter transfers, meeting and conference venue and crew rest areas.

Construction has already commenced and the facility is expected to be fully operational by February next year. Shell has been contracted to provide refuelling services.

Glad it's not my R250 million. That's quite an investment for aviation in Cape Town!

Gawd! Brave lads!

Execujet............................

Where depending on your age and what you wear determines the level of service you get.

I just hope they don't interfere with the ILS like at Lanseria?

That is a very good point!!!! I wonder if this has been given any thought by ACSA given the fact that the development is off ACSA property with access rights to the Airport?
