Great News

This is really good news for those of us who travel to Rwanda!! finally there is competition!! Rwandair and KQ have monoploized the Kigali route for far too long!!

At least with PW and Air Tanzania starting flights to KGL we expect fares to start coming down. Rumours have it that Fly540 and Jetlink (both from Kenya) are also interested in the KGL-NBO route!!
The current fares to Kigali from Nairobi are RIDICULOUS!!! For a one hour flight we pay USD 490!!! Taxes are USD110 only!!!

Yes, about the same price on the Nairobi-Entebbe route with KQ.

About Fly540, they announced in june that they planned to start flights to KGL, but actualy no news about this new route.

About Jetlink, they are waiting for approval gouvernement to fly to KGL.

Cash Cow

My guess is that KQ and Rwandair will not let Fly540 or Jetlink operate the KGL-NBO. This route is a cash cow for KQ!!! at the moment they are using 767s on certain days due to increased loads especially since Rwandair's started operating CRJ 100 from Jetlink.

As for Rwandair I think their days are numbered since competition is coming in from all sides!! Once Air Uganda commences the KGL-EBB route and Precision and Air Tanzania start flying to KGL from JRO and DAR, and Jetlink and Fly540 start KGL-NBO, then its all over for WB!!!

Any news on SilverBack? Still operating?
