800m Displaced Threshold on Runway 07.

Watchout for potholes that do appear from time-to-time.
Continuous WIP on the Rwy.

As Q4NVS says first 800m unusable. Parking at the moment is limited due to the mining boom going on. Also be very sure of your fuel supply as it is sometimes a problem although you could hop across to Ndola (FLND) for fuel. Be ready for lots of people with receipt books on landing, $150 for CAA inspection, $40 for customs, $40 for weather. Sometimes Mr Shaka Zulu from ATC wants to see an original clearance from Kinshasa CAA as well. Accommoddation in town is not great but eat at the greek club.

ENJOY

Check your fuel's still in place next morning... Park Hotel is ok...

On our way there from Kisenge a few years back and the controller tells us we need to land on 25 and asks ..."Can we land short ?"... puzzling request for a King Air... we ask to repeat... same Q... ok..yes we can... no reason given... when we arrive downwind we see a DC8 half on half off the runway with bits scattered all over... Only in Africa.

Lubum

Go in there care of a certain charter operator, from FALA, and no worries. Open small window on C550, hand out flight plan. (No MONEY, in Africa??) accept small package wrapped in brown paper and John's your uncle. Depart three minutes later. No muss, no fuss.

Do it the other way and prepare for an hour's run around.

Good luck
