work for rookies in africa - howzit done then?

Hi im a recent JAA fATPL graduate and am thinking about doing some bush flying somewhere in Africa (botswana poss). Can anybody point me in the right direction wrt how you go about getting a position there. BALPA has some info which says that you basically have to go there and you should get a job (in botswana that is) if the companies are recruiting. Cest vrai?

I currently have 230 hrs TT CPL + MEIR and all that jazz. If anybody has any advice on how to get a job, visa issues, when to go, how much cash i would need then PLEEEEAAASEEEE let me know as im sick of getting no's in the UK due to my lack of hours and want to get back in the skies ASAP.

Cheers if anybody can help, would be muchos appreciated.

This is what one of the moderators wrote last year some time:

""Use a search on "Botswana" or "Maun" and you'd be amazed with what you come up with - stickies are reserved for important announcements rather than as aids to technically challenged wannabees.

4HP""

It is true, it is the same as google search engine...you will find a wealth of knowledge on Botswana and Namibia...that is if you are hungry for work and stop relying on others to find it for you...

Hello CB
I have been flying in Zambia for 3 years and now is the time to come. There are operators here crying out for pilots. You could even get straight onto a multi if you can fly properly.
If you come to Zambia, drop in at the flying club and there will be plenty of advice and pointers there.
Good luck and above all, don't be afraid to take the plunge.

Cheers for all the advice guys. As expected its take (the seemingly very big) plunge and just go looking with CV's and hope in hand.

Icarus208, i did do a search but there is nothing wrong with asking for advice as you get info relevant to the time as opposed to outdated posts.
If you dont like that then why dont you set up your own rival website to pprune so that you can be king moderator of that?
