Any BAC 1-11s still intact in Africa?

Can anyone tell me if any 1-11s still exist in Africa and their locations.
It's been over 5 years since the Nigerian CAA grounded the aircraft which left about 50 airframes stranded around Nigeria alone.

Don't know where you got that figure from . When the senseless ban came into effect, there where just about 15 1-11s flying in Nigeria, which were left "stranded". All other airframes have been just that...airframes, for a long time before the ban.

A nice work-horse . There are still a couple -400 VIP configs flying in Africa.

There was a very nice 1-11 srs 500 parked up at Maiduguri. If I can master the intracasies of how to put a picture on here I will post a couple of pictures that I took of it in mid 2005. Rumour has it that it is in flyable condition and in mid 2005 there was a possibility of it gaining an exemption to allow it to fly out of Nigeria. I don't know if it did though.

It used to be G-AYOP with BCal.

There is a nice example in VIP config based in kigali (rwanda) for the Goverment, but can get jumpy when approached with a camera as parked near the Russian enclave.

Well 2 years later in 2006 I can confirm that she was looking every bit as good at MIU. Someone must love her and take good care of her, so maybe there is hope that she might leap up into the skies again and treat us all to the trade mark crackle of the Speys, especially if using water meth on take off!

On the 22 Nov I was treated to the sight of a BAC 1-11 shimmering in the heat on the ramp at Bahrain.

TZ-BSB, CN086, 401AK, MALI GOVERNMENT was visiting and very good she looked as well. I wasn't around when she departed so missed out on the chance to hear the 2 Speys giving their all.

I believe the one that somebody said they saw in Kinshasa belonged to ITAB in Lubumbashi. They sold it to CAA in the summer of '06. I've seen it a few times here in L'shi doing FBM - Kinshasa, but not lately.

I think ITAB has a second BAC 1-11 sitting on the west ramp in Lubumbashi. Presumably its airworthy, as they do a good job of taking care of their old-school fleet.

According to the meccanics over there the Bac 1 11is not any longer airworthy. It is not flying for one year or more than that and also has been taken as spare parts aeroplane.

Are there any intact 1-11s left at Lagos Airport or have they all been scrapped? Some reports suggested that they were all scrapped or towed away into "the trees" out of sight!!! There were as many as seven or eight 1-11s parked up in Lagos including the Chrome Air series 500 5N-UJC and several EAS 1-11s 5N-ESA, ESB, ESD, ESE and a couple of Oriental 1-11s 5N-EYI, OAL. I'm trying to wrap up the 1-11 story in Nigeria, but as many of you know it is extremely difficult getting any news.

Thumbs up

None left in Lagos, all scrapped!

Two Orientals sitting in Owerri airport, but in a terrible state., you can forget those two.

Talking about Bac 1-11's you will find a Nigerian registered Bac 1-11 in Libreville, its been there for years, can't say much about its condition though!

Zazoo,

Do you know how many were scapped in Lagos and who they belonged to?
Is my list correct or not? How long ago were they scrapped by the way?
