Springboks

Heres hoping the coach can remind the Bokkies how much they really need to show the UK of past memories. Please remind them of a time over 100 years ago that Merry old England gave the SA folks a horrible memory. Its SAs turn to teach them what the game Rugby is all about.
Go Bokkies.

Swing Low - Sweet Chariots!

Who would bet against England now? We have turned over the Aussies and French since we gave you a 36-0 start.

Go Johnny Go!

England rugby practice was delayed for two hours this afternoon after a player reported finding a white powdery substance on the practice ground. Head coach Ashton immediately suspended practice while the police were called to investigate. After a complete forensic search Scotland Yard
determined that the white stuff which was unknown to the players was in fact the try line. Practice was continued as police were happy the players were unlikely to encounter the substance again..................

A little girl was sitting in her classroom in England when her teacher walked in and started talking about how proud she is to be English and how wonderful it is to be an England supporter. The teacher then asked everyone who supported England to put up their hand. Every hand in the class besides one went up. This surprised the teacher and so she asked the little girl why her hand wasn't up.
"Well," said the little girl, "because I dont support England."
Even more surprised, the teacher asked her who she supported. "I support the Springboks", she replied. Now a bit irritated, the teacher asked the little girl why she supported the Springboks. "My mom supports the Springboks, and my dad supports the Springboks, so I support the Springboks." The teacher looked at the little girl and with a smirk asked: "Well, if your mom was an idiot and your dad was an idiot, what would you be?"
The little girl looked up at her teacher, smiled and replied:
"An England supporter

To All England Supporters

Small reminder, Springboks are not the Wallabies, We do have a pack of forwards, we klapped you 36-0, comfortably, twice before this year we put more than 50 points over you, you got through France after they pushed you all the way, France then beaten by 5 tries to 1 by the Pumas who we had to go through to get to the final, we thrashed the Pumas, by the way. NAAA, I dont think we need to worry about the little jaded red rose of England. By the way, but for pathetic refereeing, a characteristic of this particular world cup, the All Blacks would have destroyed you in the semis, making them the other team in the final playing the 'Boks. This would have been fitting as they are the number one side in the world, a light year or two ahead of England, worthy opponents too. To be the best you have to beat the best, a chance the 'Boks were denied due to above-mentioned "officialdom". Guess we will have to take out our frustrations and klap you guys again with a never to be forgotten 50 pointer in a world cup final.

GO BOKKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamex...

To be the best you may well need to beat the best, but to be world champions, you just have to beat the other team in the final.

In 2003 we, England, beat the best and the other team, tonight, we will just beat the other team.

You can whine about the referee-ing, but that is childish as there are many southern hemishpere refs making those bad decissions too!

England have had by far the harder of the two teams routes to the final, tonight you will be tested and found wanting.

Watch how to skin a Springbok tonight with a 'Wilkinson Sword'.

There's a lot of weight on Puffin' Jonny's shoulders - you'd better hope he indeed plays like a Wilkinson and not a 31 year-old Minora, because there ain't no plan 'B'.

Thumbs up Alleeeez les Boks

Hi guys, in Paris for the finals at a small internet cafe by La Gare de Nord, we just arrived with the Eurostar from London and the ambience is great.

The South Africans are all over the place and in high spirits, looks like the springboks have the french support for the championship

Decided to support the mother continent also though my other half still has her french jersey on, I have just picked up a Springbok jersey which I will proudly dorn in the stade de france.

Alleeeeeez les Boks Africa is watching

How nice to see you up and about again 4HolerPoler, old bean! Enjoy the game! Whilst rugby may be a game for seriously disturbed retards of a dubious sexual persuasion and as such holds not interest for me; I hope sincerely that your team wins!
Ah yes! At the risk of being a little fly or forward, may I point out that your use of the word 'white' in the context of islanders is, at the very least, rascist in the extreme and should be expunged forthwith by the moderators.

Thumbs up RUGBY:

Ashamed to be a Kiwi:My comment is that the ALL BLACKS and their management are a bunch of Soft -ocks and need to harden up.
What has happened since our days of Sean Fitzpatrick, when they could run it from anywhere, when Fitzpatrick started a game, and finished it.
Just now, the English where robbed of a try and possible conversion by another shoddy decision, certainly the camera angles confirmed a try should have been awarded.
I would not have believed this had I not read it:
Counselling for grieving All Blacks
Yahoo!Xtra - Saturday October 20, 03:08 AM by Neil Reid
The NZRU have put steps in place to comfort the beaten All Blacks through their latest World Cup grief - including the services of high-profile sports shrink Gilbert Enoka.
NZRU chairman Jock Hobbs said behind-the-scenes work was being done to help the Graham Henry-coached team get over their shock quarterfinal World Cup exit.
Hobbs said it was imperative steps were taken to ensure the All Blacks were able to move-on mentally as soon as possible following the 20-18 quarterfinal loss to France, a result which consigned the team to the side's worst-ever World Cup finish.
Constant contact was being made to those squad members who had returned to New Zealand.
"Yes. We are making sure no-one is isolated or left alone," Hobbs told Yahoo!Xtra in Paris.
"I know that Gilbert Enoka has been in contact with them all, providing them with advice on how-best to get through this difficult period.
"Yes, there has been some special care taken.
"The loss in Cardiff was devastating - it was very, very gut-wrenching.
"It has been a very difficult thing.
"It hit us so hard - it was hugely disappointing for everyone involved and hugely disappointing for all of our supporters, whether they be here in Europe or back home."
Hobbs has stayed on in Europe, along with out-going NZRU chief executive Chris Moller and his replacement Steve Tew, due to IRB commitments.
But throughout the two weeks since the shattering loss, Hobbs said he had had regular updates from back home on the mood of the nation.
"Initially there was a huge amount of disappointment, frustration and probably some anger," he said.
"But it was very heartening to see the reception the All Blacks received on their return to New Zealand. That was pretty special for the team.
"We are a long way away, but my take on it is that people are very disappointed but there has been a reasonably balanced reaction."
That included growing calls for Henry to be retained as head coach and several thousand supporters turning up at Christchurch airport to welcome members of the team home.
It is a vastly different reaction to previous World Cup losses where public opinion has quickly turned particularly on the coaching staff.
Hobbs said various reasons might be behind some of the good-feeling extended towards the All Blacks' latest unsuccessful World Cup squad.
"It could well be that this particular team, and the set of coaches and the management, do have a lot of support given their out-standing record over recent years.
"Also, of course it might be an illustration that our supporters and people who do love the game, while they are hugely disappointed, the All Blacks still do mean a great deal to them.
"They want to take a balanced view of it.
"Yeah, it is a Rugby World Cup tournament - it is a tournament we desperately do want to win. But it is a one-off tournament and the team has been hugely successful outside of it."
Hobbs said he had little time for the blaming game which has seen English ref Wayne Barnes being labeled public villain No 1 following the loss.
An IRB report has admitted Barnes, and his two touch judges, made mistakes.
But Hobbs said refereeing should never have been an issue.
"When you put the referee to one side, we still had the opportunity and the ability to win that game," he said.
"Unfortunately we didn't."
Meanwhile, Hobbs wouldn't be drawn on his own future.
He said the day after the 20-18 loss to France that he would evaluate whether it was right for him to stay on board as the NZRU chairman.
And if he thought a new voice was needed, he would step aside.
But today Hobbs stated: "At this point I don't want to make any comment."
Go Sth Africa, go the bok's, go.

B Sousa,

yes a good game of rugby and of course as in every contest the best team won - well done. Nice to see that the game rugby still leaves the contest and violence on the pitch. Unlike other xenophobic dust-ups, including football, which seem to turn into international incidents and war. 7 years living in Wales as an English supporter showed me that even the oldest of enemies can all agree when a good game of rugby has been played.

In the case of raising xenophobic waffle on pprune, just rekindles ancient history. Lets leave old sabre rattlers where they belong - in the past!

Good close game... could have gone the other way, left me feeling that we should be playing the best of 3. Well done boks ! Would like to be sharing in a braai (spelling ?) with a few of my ex SA colleagues now.. and yes.. Rugby has always managed to avoid the brainless xenophobia that permeates soccer.. the old adage still holds true:

Soccor.. a game for gentleman played by hooligans
Rugby... a game for hooligans played by gentleman
