You definitely need a car in SA. There are no two ways about it. If you're here for an extended period it is defintely cheaper to buy one, than rent
- chances are you won't lose out on the deal either as when you leave you can sell it for what you bought it for...........strange thing the used-car market in SA

You live like the average South African, dont go into bad areas, leave lights on, live behind burglar bars, travel in groups, dont act like a tourist, you can stop me anytime.....?

Those procedures are the same precautions that we currently follow/take in Latin America.
