Jet Work Available?
What are the chances of an Australian getting a jet job in Africa with 13,000 hours total and 6,000 hours 737 FO time plus substantial Saab 340 command time. The wife's South African too.

Hi there,
Your chances are probably very good. Of course one would need to convert the licence to an RSA ATPL, and obtain a work/residence permit, but that should be fairly achievable considering your wifes nationality.
There are 5 primary B737 operators in the RSA, and they are quite likely to show interest in your application.
1. South African Airways

2. Bitish Airways/Comair
Contact : Captain Martin Louw : C.P
3. Safair
Contact : Captain Wessie Wessels
4. Nationwide Airlines

5. InterAir

Good Luck!
PS: Is this what happens when the Springboks get going?

Another thing. How safe is it in Africa, particuarly South Africa? We get stories on the media over here like every woman in South Africa will be raped at least once. Is it really that bad?
