EUROPE-CPT-EUROPE IN A SINGLE PISTON

There were a group of 10 small single pistons that arrived in CPT 2 August, all the way from Europe! The flying event took 2 years to plan, and was the brainchild of Hand Gutmann, who did the flight in 2003 and saw the potential to share the experience with more pilots.

They took off from Salzburg, Austria on the 15th of July, and reached FACT Wednesday, ex Keetmanshoop. Today (4 August) they started the trip back to Europe, to comple their 15 000 Nautical Mile (30 000 km) Air Adventure.

Have a look at their website (www.14east.org) to track their progress. Once the trip is complete, they will add some photo’s of the trip.

Hats off to these pilots. I don’t know many people that will want to cross the ocean (even if its Durban – Madagascar and back to the African continent) in a single piston!
